Refillable Gas Systems

Ok here goes - being a Safefill owner that is the one I know most about and I like it because I can see the level of gas - it is lightweight and the saving over the price of Calorlite is substantial if you are a heavy user.  It makes even more sense to use a refillable if you are going across the water as you can refill there - whereas Calor is not obtainable (not anywhere I have been anyway).  There were three sizes but the grapevine said the smallest has been discontinued.

There is also Gaslow which until I saw a recent post I thought was a permanent fixed refillable probably more convenient for a Motorhomer, but I see they have free standing cylinders too.  When I looked at Gaslow it appeared to be far more expensive to set up for a caravanner than Safefill - but I could have been looking in the wrong place.

Gasit - is another I believe but I know nothing about it.

Are we beginning to see the demise of garage tops up of LPG, at least in this country. I notice on another forum there are posts about shortages of LPG but thought nothing of it until a few days ago when coming back from a long snowing cold weekend away, I stopped at one of my usual top up points, a Shell garage, and they had no gas and I was informed they hadn't had any for 2 months!

For that very reason I only replaced one of my exchangeable 6kg Calor cylinders with a Gaslow self-refillable. Both are connected so that when/if the Gaslow runs out I switch over and dip into the Calor cylinder temporarily until I find an LPG pump.

That’s very interesting peedee. Hadn’t heard of shortages as I’ve never had a problem with filling my Safefills.  mmm- something to think about.

Graymee, definitely do it.  I managed pre Christmas to convert 4 other people on the Lunar Caravan Owners Club page on Facebook before Christmas.    The biggest thing that delayed our decision was the cost, but once we took the plunge we were truly converted.

It’s good to see folk realising that Safefill can save a small fortune. I have just filled my small cylinder and topped up my medium cylinder ready for the season. It’s almost a pleasure to fill up now!!

Fantastic service from Safefill.  Ordered a 7.5kg bottle on Monday evening and received it at 10.30hrs today.  Will get it filled in the next few days.

And when they ask you for just a few quid oneputt, you’ll think ‘that can’t be right’ but it will be. 😂😂

Details of the above- now found the receipt- Just filled up myself ready for the season. I had my small Safefill filled as it was empty and had my medium size one topped up which had been keeping nice and snug in my workshop. 16.7 lts all together or 8.345 kilos. If I had bought that in Calor cylinders working on £24 per 6kg cylinder I would have paid £33.74!! So saving, funnily enough, enough to swap a Calor cylinder- as if! 🤣🤣🤣😂

Just filled my safefill bottle up for the first time, well pleased.  I filled it up at the Shell Garage at Normanston Dr, Lowestoft NR32 2PY.  Its right on the round about just before the railway level crossing.

It might be helpful if we could have a sticky showing where people have filled up their bottles.

Have you informed mylpg.eu oneputt? He will make sure it’s on his map and data list. Safefill, due to pressure of work and trying to educate the great unwashed re Safefill have found that their map is out of date and are now using this site for their Safefill friendly sites. Try it. Thanks for the info mate.
