Refillable Gas Systems

Ok here goes - being a Safefill owner that is the one I know most about and I like it because I can see the level of gas - it is lightweight and the saving over the price of Calorlite is substantial if you are a heavy user.  It makes even more sense to use a refillable if you are going across the water as you can refill there - whereas Calor is not obtainable (not anywhere I have been anyway).  There were three sizes but the grapevine said the smallest has been discontinued.

There is also Gaslow which until I saw a recent post I thought was a permanent fixed refillable probably more convenient for a Motorhomer, but I see they have free standing cylinders too.  When I looked at Gaslow it appeared to be far more expensive to set up for a caravanner than Safefill - but I could have been looking in the wrong place.

Gasit - is another I believe but I know nothing about it.

whilst there are obvious factors like cost per refill and being able to top up at anytime are key in the purchase evaluation process, it's the ease of LPG access across Europe that is a clincher for many who tour at length there.

perhaps the static position of UK LPG 'coverage' doesnt present too much of a problem for these users...smile

I was under the impression that BP had got rid of all their LPG rigs?? Perhaps a few have retained theirs. As I am late to the Party, Happy New Year all you Non EHUers!!  Spent all of Christmas and New year suffering from ‘Aussie Flu’ - can’t wait for those long summer days!😂😂

Had some feedback today from Safefill on the 2 locations I discovered in December.

One is happy to fill but doesn't want to go on Safefill's list for fear of upsetting Calor.  The other apparently was like falling on death ears, which was our experience at Christmas.

Hi everyone- happy New Year to you all!! Having a clear out and getting ready for the new season. I have a brand new Calorlite (empty) - are these still sought after or can I turn it in to a Calor dealer or even take it to the local tip! Calor rental cylinders  ain’t part of my plans now. Thanks

Try putting it on EBay, you never know your luck.

I plan to buy a Safefill bottle soon so have been interested in this thread. I looked at the two maps mentioned earlier, MyLPG and LPGMAP and neither showed Brayford Leisure who are Safefill dearlers and, as far as I'm aware, suppliers of LPG.

agreed, their website says they have a LPG point but i cant see t on mylpg.eu...

however, no doubt they can be emailed to place an update...which is, i guess, how these sites evolve..

Graymee, definitely do it.  I managed pre Christmas to convert 4 other people on the Lunar Caravan Owners Club page on Facebook before Christmas.    The biggest thing that delayed our decision was the cost, but once we took the plunge we were truly converted.
