Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

The latest update in my own situation is that following the issuing of duplicate invoice for £105 on Friday, and my immediate contacting the issuer, I received an email on Saturday advising that the account would be corrected, and then a later email advising that there had been a “software glitch” and that refunds would be issued.

So far, nothing else seems to have happened with the duplicate payment still showing in my current account.

A couple of things that concerns me with this... what if the taking of this duplicate payment caused financial difficulty, causing problems with budgeting or additional charges?  Secondly, I have read many reports of the same problem with this card, both here and on the many Facebook groups, and it seems that customers are getting a range of varied responses and stories from the provider.

The fact that such issues are occurring on such a wide scale, and there seems to be a lot of inconsistency in responses to customers is leaving me hesitant to go back to using the card if and when the current “glitch” is resolved.

It’s unfortunate that the scheme is one that seems to have been primarily promoted by the club, as it’s easy to use such promotion as endorsement and a level of trust is invested in that, which seems to have possibly been misplaced.

Essocard's aka Pumpking's unauthorised withdrawal from my c/a and their credit to correct it have both appeared in my online banking this morning. Hopefully that will be an end to this whole sorry saga...

Hello Surfer. I have reported this and forwarded to my colleagues to investigate.

Hi Rowena I am still waiting for a response regarding the threatogram received from Pump KIng.  Have your colleagues even bothered to investigate?

How can we be at fault if it takes their system 7 days to process a transaction?

I have a query about my card and thought I might get a quicker response if I ask fellow members who have used their card.

I used my card for the first time on Saturday putting in a mere £40.00 at pump prices (to be on the safe side in view of some comments on this thread). The card was accepted without an issue. So far, and I know it is perhaps a bit early, I have had no acknowledgement of the transaction. Should I expect one?

Also, on my profile the card number isn't shown and it won't allow me to enter it. Is this normal or do I need to speak to Pump King / Esso / CMC ?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Going by our experience the transaction will probably only happen on Friday 18th Jan as it takes 7 days for it to be processed through the system.  In the meantime you may get a threatening email like we did yesterday.

well i used my card back in December, like you card was accepted, but i had no acknowledgement of transaction but money was taken some 5 days hence and when i went onto my esso card site and logged in i could see the transaction, and my card number and password are visible on my profile page, so for me card works, you might have to speak to pump king re card number, if me would wait a few days to see if monies taken from your account and if transaction pops up in your profile if all ok, let sleeping dogs lay for the mo , i think they have much greater problems just now. They sent me 2 cards one of which i have popped into box 13 for now and will continue to use my original.

I too am waiting for my card to appear after 3 weeks. I was quite excited, as according to the prices sent me so far, I could save about 6p a litre at my local ESSO garage near Woking, but no card!

I've  telephoned and emailed the accounts department at myEssocard, several times over the last week, but so far no reply.

Reading other experiences, I must say I'm a bit concerned - they have my bank details, my PIN can be seen on my account page (very unusual) and their customer service seems non-existent. I think I've spoken to the same girl on every occasion!

A precaution I have taken though, is to use a separate bank account for these types of payments, - that way they only have access to a few pounds and can't drain my main account in the event of problems.

Yes, The Club needs to to get proactive and impress upon this company that we expect better service, although I guess there's not much incentive when you're cutting the profit margin at the garages!!!

bet the club are getting commission on the promotion, so yes they do have a duty of care , thought they would have learnt a lesson from when they screwed up the Shell card promotion.frown
