Hi everyone,

We wanted you to be the first to know about a new member offer with My Esso Card. The My Esso Card is a fuel card that provides savings at 1,300 Esso fuel stations to help drive down the cost of touring. Members are guaranteed to save on fuel at every Esso station across the UK with the only consumer facing fuel card.

We are the only organisation within the touring industry able to provide this offer to members.

What is the saving?

On average members will typically save 8p per litre on premium diesel or unleaded fuel and 5p per litre on standard diesel or unleaded fuel. That’s a typical saving of £5.60 per tank on premium fuel or £3.50 on standard fuel (based on 70 litre tank of fuel).

The saving varies based on the My Esso Card special rate and the Esso pump price rate. In the unlikely event that the pump price is lower than the My Esso Card special rate members are guaranteed to save 1p per litre on the pump price. You can use the My Esso Card to fill up all your vehicles, not just the one you tour with.

There are no fees to sign up and no transaction or processing fees. You can also earn your Tesco Clubcard points when filling up.

We are also running a competition for members for a chance to win free fuel.

To launch this great new offer, My Esso Card are giving Caravan and Motorhome Club members an exclusive chance to win free fuel. 10 lucky winners will win 175 litres of fuel and another 10 lucky winners 75 litres of fuel!  Members need to register for a card and fill by 31 December 2018 to be entered into the random prize draw.  Winners will automatically have the fuel credit added to their My Esso Card account.

To find out more about this member offer visit My Esso Card Member Offer on the Club website

I see Trust Pilot is mentioned by the club in the Membership section on the main tool bar, where posts receive a lot of attention. In fact social media appears to be keeping everyone very busy but is it helpful or off-putting to see so much activity? Would better direct communications generally improve the situation, it seems like fire fighting to me?

There is a minimum 1p saving on the fuel card, that is the bottom line and if Esso is your only fuel supplier you have this option.

I wonder if the 1p savings would work if you fill up on the continent and the cost per litre is significantly less than the texted UK price?  I am assuming that the 1p savings would also apply to ROI?

You could always email PK to ask - but then you will probably be back from the summer holidays before you get an answer, if you ever doyell

Gloucester M5 is also Northbound I believe.

The eurotunnel could be a handy one to remember. Come straight off the train and fill up. Just need to keep an eye on the price of the Intermarche in Coquelles.

I think Northbound is Texaco.

The mention of motoway service areas reminds me just how good The Caravan Club offer with Roadchef actually is.  No hassle, worthwhile savings, and no special card required. Should anyone from Head Office actually take any notice of what is written on here on CT, then that is what ALL offers should be like.

i think if you look way way back i believe there is a post from eccomerce1 that states that you can use the card on the continent but you would have to pay pump prices, the fuel card i think only saves you transaction costs, but if you have a decent Visa card etc then you do not pay these anyway.

i usd the card for the first time at my local Esso garage. The till receipt showed a pump price of £1.169 / litre.  The receipt received online showed a pump price of £1.91.  invoice price of £20.52 at the forecourt, yet £20.90 on the online invoice.

The price this week on the "offer" is 1.20 odd per litre, at the forecourt its still £1.16.

This might be useful on the motorway, if it worked ,but otherwise totally useless, seemingly to actually cost money rather than save it.

Isn't it mentioned  in the T&Cs for Pumpkin that they will still give a discount of £0.01p if the price is the same or lower so one should still get a discount even on fuel on the continent?

I asked PK about this; their response was that if using the card in Europe the price would be the pump price at the fuel station. The only advantage they could offer was that the conversion to sterling would not incur an extra fee … Think I'll stick to my normal fee-free Halifax Clarity card for fuel abroad.

Surfer, NPH posted this a while ago, may be of some help to you.

Doesn't look like the 1p saving applies "sur le continent"?

Sounds like to need to challenge them.  And shows the importance of keeping the receipts!

As you are aware Pump King My Esso Card operates on weekly fixed prices.

The rate of saving is an average across teh whole country but will vary from fuel station to fuel station as they charge different prices.

Occsaionally a station will be charging at the same or slightly lower than the Pump King fixed weekly price. Customers are advised to check the forecourt price agaisnt the Pump King price for the week before making purchases, and to pay by alternative means if necessary, so that they are not disadvantaged.

Regards,

Rob
