What constitutes an awning?

Hi everyone,

Still new to this game. :-)

We have an IH panel van conversion, 6.4 metres long. If we book a 'Pitch Without Awning' does that mean that we would not be able to use our wind-out awning at all? Forgive me if this seems a stupid question, but I do feel there is a difference between those luxurious and enormous awnings that effectively doubles the size of a caravan, and which takes some time to erect and dismantle, and our simple wind-out affair which just takes minutes to open and strap down and which just provides a bit of cover from the weather.

What is the official take on what is an awning, please? If I book a pitch without awning and then wind my awning out, and perhaps put a windbreak side on, will I be breaking the rules and find myself in trouble with the site wardens?

Many thanks,

Mike.

One thing to remember, not all non awning pitches are size limited; some are non awning because you can't hammer pegs into the surface, because it is paved, concrete or tarmac.

For example, Chapel Lane, new non awning pitches at Tewkesbury Abbey and others.

And by that grass finger between pitches. Some are a foot wide others over a yard, some have no separating space between as the pitch buts up against its neighbour.

I'd  be  a  little  cautious  about  having  such  thoughts,  KGF   undecided.

Comments  regularly  passed  on  this  Club  Forum about  PEGS  &  methods  of  driving  PEGS,  often  include  anything / everything  short  of  the  Road-workers  concrete  breaking  road  drill surprised !!

Hi everyone and welcome to Club Together Tio75.

To confirm, no awnings of any shape or size will be allowed on a standard non-awning pitch (caravan or motorhome). However, a motorhome may put out a sun canopy as long as the spacing is maintained. If a member breaches the required spacing, they should be requested to wind the canopy in sufficiently to achieve the 3 metre gap.

This would not apply to a caravan as this outfit will be accompanied by a car and therefore cannot achieve the spacing with a canopy.

I hope this helps. cool
