Caravan for day trip?

It might sound like a daft question, but can you day trip with a Caravan? For example, pull into a quiet beach car park and use it as a base for the day.  I can't find anything online. If it's ok, any suggestions for destinations in South Wales that would be suitable ?

Cheers

Not sure about S Wales, but Clumber Park is a favourite day trip destination for dozens in our region.

Can't say for sure but height restrictions might cause problems for caravans as well as motorhomes in some car parks.

As you'd not be 'camping overnight' (which is often banned) I can't see which, if any, local byelaws you'd be contravening.

I've often thought it would be great to have the van with us for a day out, picnicing etc.

What I'd like most of all to do with our van is take it to an outdoor picnic concert and enjoy the music, ambience, my own food, wine and fall into bed at the end.  Happy

Not sure about South Wales but different councils have different rules so if you plan to go anywhere you need to check the rules there.

We have used our caravan for all sorts, stay at friends for parties, as a comfy retreat when at craft fairs, etc.... Need to be aware of bylaws though.

We've had a couple great days in the van. Once at Stonehaven and once at St Fillans. Both times we were trying a new car / van combo. Just took a few litres of water with all the other usual kit, for an excellent, comfy day out.

Sorry can't recommend anywhere in your preferred area.

Between an hour / hour and half (depending on speed travelling and traffic ) from Newport South Wales you can go to  Brean in Burnham on sea and actually park on the beach with your van all day, plenty to sea and do,  but you need to arrive early Cool

When you say 'use as a base' do you mean unhooking and leaving the caravan (car park, roadside?) and then going off somewhere in the car, or do you mean keeping it all hooked up and just strolling/cycling off somewhere?

while hooked up, your van is a trailer and is covered by the license and road tax of your car, once you abandon it.....

you cant really leave it in a car park (especially not hooked up...) or the side of the road....

however, if you're wanting to remain hooked up, what's the point...isnt this what a motorhome is?

You can use your caravan for any trips, providing you can find a large enough parking spot with no height restrictor bars and local bye laws about parking a caravan.

but i wouldn't recommend unhitching or trying an overnight stop off site.
