When the club announced it's name change there were dozens of "new" posters putting their view ,now it has quietened down why aren't these posters carrying on with posting and joining in with other discussions ?????and the funsmile

The other advantage of Facebook (and other forums) is that you can block people if you find them irritating or boring. May lead to fewer reports

Other places tend to nip problems in the bud rather than let them reach the stage we see on here. It prevents so much bad feeling.

Although it’s true we did have more regular posters on here some time ago, even then the percentage of posters was a small fraction of the total CC membership.

Many members are content just to read the forum and never join in, that is their choice. The new website then new logo change may have prompted a few to voice their concerns on CT but it was never likely that they would become regular posters IMHO.

One of the reasons that I don't use this forum as much as I used to, apart from it being so slow and the annoying drop down top bar, is having to search to find responses to my posts, when there used to be "call back" record of my previous posts.

I think we have to accept that not all members want to use the forum on a daily basis and some, probably quite a lot, dip in now and again to ask a question. On most forums it's easy to identify those who are the regulars, no harm in that as they tend to keep most forums going.

On the issue of supposed trolls. All I would say to people if they genuinely feel that a poster is trolling (as opposed to disagreeing with something that has been said) they should report such instances to the Community Manager. Every post has it's own facility to be reported if required.

Why should we have to do the job that should have been done by the people policing this forum?

There should be no need for a member to have to report the "So Called Trolls".... They should have been recognised and removed as soon as seen.....cool

I used to be a moderator on a busy social forum. Other mods were like me - unpaid. Admittedly a far bigger forum with a far greater number of active members and varied topics. It was unreasonable to expect mods who a;so wished to enjoy the forum to go into every section and thread just to read all posts. It is not simply a question therefore of 'policing' for the moderators but of helping volunteers who also have a life away from the forum.

As we all know Moderation is not to be discussed openly on the forum, suffice to say that if leadership is weak then moderation will have inadequate direction.
