PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

This thread is not for discussions. Post ONLY factual information.

To provide a comprehensive list of problems encountered, I would suggest that each post lists only one issue at a time.

Provide details of problem  as concisely as possible.

Operating system, machine used and relevant software. i.e. Macbook/ PC/tablet, Windows XP/ iOS7 etc, Safari/Internet Explorer/Chrome inc version No.

Please do not enter into discussions such as "I've had/not had this problem" as this will detract from the objectivity of the thread. Hopefully this thread may assist the IT department in finding where "all the bodies are buried".

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

A snagging list is only useful if there was to be any intention to put any deficiencies right.  ----

Facebook unfortunately is the alleged replacement for this forum.

It is over a year since I started this thread. That there are still regular ongoing deficiencies is indicative that the IT team are totally incompetent or that they are so starved of resources that CAMC do not care about getting it right. Either way, it is an absolute disgrace.

I personally do not mind if things are not perfect on CT. Providing the on line booking system works I’m happy (I’ve never had problems with it).  I rarely contribute to CT (occasionally reading discussions of interest) but appreciate that there will be others who get frustrated with it as they use it on a regular basis.

CT 'support' is on a par with that of Windows XPundecided

seriously, despite many members' contributions to try and construct a decent list of issues, the club has seen fit to, pretty much, ignore it, 'fixing' odd elements (but never telling users when it was due..or what exactly was being fixed...) or producing a definitive list of what the Club accepts as 'issues' and a list of dates for the various 'releases' where they will be resolved....all pretty basic provider/user interfacing...

as to be expected, interest in providing input waned in line with responses that were like pulling teeth and contained scant information.

im afraid this is a lovely cameo of how CC engages in 'communication' with its customers....

having spent a working lifetime in IT, I just can't relate to how this 'market leading leisure company' treats its users...

as CY so succinctly sums it up.....an absolute disgrace......

I tend to take a similar pragmatic view. I have no problems with the forum in terms of reading, asking or answering questions as it works reasonably well from that point of view but it is annoyingly slow at times. I make the assumption that what was highlighted a year ago and has not been fixed is unlikely to be fixed under this version of the forum? I don't have issues with posting pictures as I use a Windows system but appreciate that those that use tablets seem to have more problems. I get the impression that the Powers that Be take the view that Club Together is not used enough to warrant the IT time. Clearly they feel there is more mileage in the Social Media side by the amount of investment there has been there. Our only hope is that the background software that the forum is based on will, at some stage, long longer be supported which will then mean one of two things. At long last the Club will realise that using an off the shelf forum software will provide the best option or they just let the forum side die a natural death. The latter would seem to be a strange decision as there are a claimed 400000 signed up members using the website. Those of you that contribute to other caravanning  forums will no doubt have noticed a massive decrease in posts on such forums, particularly in the last year. On the other hand  Facebook Groups seem to be getting more and more popular.

I think it's quite important that the profile/avatar photos are working, these are used by everyone who signs up to CT and the majority who use a profile for reviews but don't use the forum. It must be frustrating for new users to find their profile pics are rejected.

I'm not sure how FB etc will fare in the future, it might still be better to get the club web site up and running well in all sections.

Brue

I did recently report posts asking about avatars suggesting that this issue had been outstanding for so long but as yet I have not had any feedback. What should one read into that? I suspect the CM is equally frustrated with some of these issues so one must assume that we have no one fighting our corner further up the command chain?

I am not so keen on Facebook Groups as you lose all the structure you have with a forum but they are busy and popular.

I cannot for the life of me think why. Notwithstanding the recent security issue, the format is such that it is virtually impossible to relocate an earlier post and, as such, is useless for providing information from members that CT is so useful for.

If CAMC think that Faceache is a suitable substitute for a 'proper' forum, it just goes to show how out of touch with reality that they are.

Thanks David, frustrating to all concerned about the avatars.

Regarding FB, when I look at  the posts they remind me of a big version of our "what are you doing today" thread" (with the exception of a certain type of food delivery thrown in...wink) and the reviews are frequent but fairly minimal. In some ways the format of FB limits the input. But as you say it's popular and people conform to the FB formula, at least on here there is room for a bit more creativity. smile

Hi Wherenext, I've chased the relevant team and they are currently working on the fix regarding avatars. Hopefully it should be resolved next month and I will keep you updated.

At least Rowena acknowledged that the avatar problem needed sorting. We wait with bated breath.

I agree wholeheartedly with CY. Face ache is no solution to those members seeking advise from fellow members. Sure, the General Chat could disappear, but everything above that line seems to have a value to members, it's just that EG gives the impression that they couldn't give a damn.
