PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

This thread is not for discussions. Post ONLY factual information.

To provide a comprehensive list of problems encountered, I would suggest that each post lists only one issue at a time.

Provide details of problem  as concisely as possible.

Operating system, machine used and relevant software. i.e. Macbook/ PC/tablet, Windows XP/ iOS7 etc, Safari/Internet Explorer/Chrome inc version No.

Please do not enter into discussions such as "I've had/not had this problem" as this will detract from the objectivity of the thread. Hopefully this thread may assist the IT department in finding where "all the bodies are buried".

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING.

Brue, have you mastered time travel?  Your thread about 'Children in Need' is timed "Posted on 17/11/2017 11:15"

Why is not possible to return to a post at any time and edit it? I use 3 other forums where you can do this ?

Posted on 17/12/2017 21:31

You can but it is very time limited. Mods will always be happy to try and assist as we can edit posts with no time limit. However an edit must not change the meaning of a post/thread once other replies have taken place.

But only for a few minutes David. The other forums I use allow the OP to edit at any time and has an option to leave a comment as to the reason at the bottom of the post. i.e. spelling, correcting information and so on.

I fail to see why this forum won't allow it?

It is difficult to compare because the other forums you mention I expect use off the shelf specialist forum software whereas this is a bespoke forum built specifically for the CMC which is much more basic in design. We have over the years discussed this at length but because the Club want Club Together to be incorporated into their main website they have clearly felt (at least thus far) that this was the better option. Never say never but this is what we currently have and as such have to deal with it the best we can.

Sometimes mods will correct obvious mistakes they see. If information needs correcting probably best to quote the original post and add the corrected information below.

I think what David is saying in diplomatic language is that other forums are purpose built for the job by professionals specialising in that field whereas this is a cobbled together effort.

Agree there, but surely changing/editiing a previous post well after a number of people have responded to the initial post would result in those subsequent post possibly not giving a correct response to the edited post and so be very confusing to someone reading through whole correspondence. Perhaps if Milo wanted to correct his post he should just submit a new one pointing out his previous error?
