How do we move on?

I've just been looking through the last few weeks of posts and I guess that there's probably less than 20 of us that regularly post on here, with probably a few new members who contribute occasionally.  But given the total membership of the CC we are nothing more than a mere pimple on the Elephants B**b.  So,- its not really any wonder that the CC ruling body take very little notice (If any) of what we say.

So how do we improve things? Personally I have long thought that our power of debate and thought, is often diluted by cynical humour. However, given our tiny ability to influence things, that is not really surprising.

So how do we make this forum more influential?

Or perhaps that is not our role?  I really do not know, & even if I did, that would do little to ease the situation, because others would seek to argue the opposite view.

So where do we go from here? Do we accept that we are of no real value at all?  Should we try harder to show the way forward?  But perhaps that's not our role!   Maybe just a light weight banter fellowship will be always our role.  But if that is the case why do we get so cross when we think that someone else is upsetting or disagreeing with us?

Perhaps its too late, and I should go to bed, but I really do think that once we were on to something, - now I'm not so sure!

It has been said that there is not much wrong with this Forum, and by and large I agree with that.

The exception being that we are not allowed, under 'General Chat', (or anywhere else) to discuss Politics, Religion or anything of that ilk that might get us excited.

Sadly we are left with a heap of anodyne scatology.

What we are left with is actually a forum in the main about all aspects of our hobby, with a little side chat for those that wish to digress. By banning those contentious subjects most threads are kept 'on topic', not really a bad thing ? If you really want to discuss politics/religion etc there are general public platforms out there (facebook & twitter to name but two) so why clog up a caravanning forum?

I agree with FD  I log on once or twice a day when I'm at a loose end. I post more regularly than I used to but I only read posts that I think from the title will be of interest to me. The main problem for me is the unreliability of the software for instance the blank page syndrome which this site suffers from.

I couldn't agree more with that reply, Alison. Those of us who have been around long enough can well remember how threads degenerated into insults and deliberately provocative posting of the sort which, by and large, is thankfully a thing of the past on this forum. I look on General Chat in the same way that you might have a "general chat" with neighbours you meet on site while away in the van - and that definite doesn't include politics and religion! Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

IMHO by posting individuals follow the guidelines of the forum & it’s a case of each individual’s personal choice to post on or read Club Together.

Agree with both Alison and Moulesy, being long term contributors I think we've seen all the permutations on here and the balance is just about right. It will always need changes to keep it running well. I'm sure the CC are listening to some of the comments, it would be a pointless exercise if they didn't. On the whole it's a friendly forum and new members are welcome on every section. Smile

One thing that is missing IMO is a section on Technology. Hopefully this will be addressed in the new forum. At the moment information of this type is dispersed amongst many sections. A specific place to put queries of this type and a reliable search routine, that would allow searches of specific sections, would be invaluable and greatly enhance the forum.

One of the reasons I stopped posting a while ago for 6 or 9 months.

Brilliant idea.I'm sure it would be useful to many, myself included. Hope this happens

The CC is quite right to disallow discussions on politics, religion, sexuality, race and skin colour.  Those subjects can offend some people.

There are plenty of normal discussions still available, such as  anything to do with caravaning,  education, wildlife, places of interest and technical subjects.

This is a nice genteel forum, with no arguments or disagreements, lets all try and keep it that way.
