How do we move on?

I've just been looking through the last few weeks of posts and I guess that there's probably less than 20 of us that regularly post on here, with probably a few new members who contribute occasionally.  But given the total membership of the CC we are nothing more than a mere pimple on the Elephants B**b.  So,- its not really any wonder that the CC ruling body take very little notice (If any) of what we say.

So how do we improve things? Personally I have long thought that our power of debate and thought, is often diluted by cynical humour. However, given our tiny ability to influence things, that is not really surprising.

So how do we make this forum more influential?

Or perhaps that is not our role?  I really do not know, & even if I did, that would do little to ease the situation, because others would seek to argue the opposite view.

So where do we go from here? Do we accept that we are of no real value at all?  Should we try harder to show the way forward?  But perhaps that's not our role!   Maybe just a light weight banter fellowship will be always our role.  But if that is the case why do we get so cross when we think that someone else is upsetting or disagreeing with us?

Perhaps its too late, and I should go to bed, but I really do think that once we were on to something, - now I'm not so sure!

There seem to be three sorts of contributors on here. 1. Those who want advice.  2. Those who are happy to give advice.  3. Those who just want to chat, discuss, natter, and argue with each other.

The first group has shrunk as people realise they can get rapid answers from Google -  so the second group has shrunk too. And so we are left with the third group. Is that about it?

The forum has, to a degree, matured. The Fun & Trivia does seem to be degenerating though. Endless alphabetical lists have somewhat had their day and something a little more humourous or creative is called for.

I don't think the forum was ever intended to be a means for the Club hierachy to talk to the members, as a rule they have better things to do than sit chatting on a forum, so I was surprised that there were so many complaints that this didn't happen. Then it became quite clear that very few members actually understood how the Club is run and by whom, even though there have been attempts to explain and each AGM has a 'Who's who' - though it quickly became clear just how many members bin their magazine without reading it and seemingly there is an equal number who don't realise the information is all on the website too !

Yet these are often the people who complain on here that no-one tells them anything ! The way forward from here?  personally, the only improvement I would like is to make it easier to post pictures but I think that may be a bit of a pipe dream because encouraging everyone to post could just clog up the site and make it slower, I'm not on a lot of other forums but I have experienced some and none are full of photos

Have just had a look at some of the other Caravan forums from the really good and popular, to those at the other end of the scale.

The better ones are attracting good and interesting posts, and at the other end the organisers are desperately trying to keep the forums alive. .

This CC forum compares favourably with some of the best,

Don't knock it folks --- This CC forum is OK

Cheers...............K

I am a regular user of this forum, I tend to 'view' more than 'post'. I find some of the posts of no interest to me but some I open because they take my interest in relation caravanning, which after all, I presume this is what the forum is about. As a matter of routine in the evenings I go to CT just to see whats being discussed and have an imput if I have a view or an opinion, I have also used it for advice with regard to caravanning. I am surprised that there are only about 20 regular posters, seems more than that to me.

I do think that the club should 'review' the forum, it has been running now for a few years, maybe do a survey to find out what the members/posters would like to see improved or changed. I for one think it would be good if they could make it easier to upload photos on here. We all have a wealth of caravan/motorhome photos stored on our computers including the vintage ones which I think could be a great way to move the forum on.
