Non-members on CLs

No names (just yet...).

On a CL (which has recently changed hands) the other week when a single guy in VW T5 home conversion turns up late at night and is away again 6am the next morning.  When speaking to the CL owner the next morning I said I was surprised to see he'd let someone stay in a van with no toilet (given that the CL has no toilets).  He seemed a little vague as to whether the person was a club member (I suspect he wasn't).

Is either issue acceptable?  Certainly I think the no toilet issue is a complete no no and I'm not over the moon about letting non members in just out of greed (well what other reason is there?).

I'd sooner not say until I've stopped over there on my way home next week.  There aren't exactly hundreds of other options in the area and the site has always worked very well for us in the past.

Nah, if there’s a problem, stand up and be counted and vote with your wheels. If there’s no problem, say nothing at all…..but you already have so you're dithering and prepared to condone the perceived problem.

You can’t justify doing both, 3BD.

Is that how you see reporting a breach of a CL's terms and conditions, in fact breaking a legally binding condition - a stab in the back?

if, if, this is the case the way forward is to report it and not use the CL again. I agree in principle with what you're saying but just object to the phrase in terms of reporting a breach.

Bit hypocritical there.  You want to stop him doing what you suspect is breaking the rules - but not until after you've stayed there again.  Hmm!

I'm not sure where I said I was going to stab him in the back or even report him.

As I say the site has recently changed hands and I was just asking what peoples thoughts were on what I saw as issues.  I'm already booked in there for the return journey (as I said there aren't many other CL's in the area, it's location works well for us) and I'll raise my concerns with him next week face to face.

I still find the idea of a van with no toilet being let onto a site without toilets odd.  Maybe I'm a bit more sensitive to this issue as I live on the NC500 in Scotland and almost every VW T5 that stops in the large layby at bottom of my garden contains at least one person who p***** (or worse) in full view of the house.  I expect the same things going on in a CL.

We haven't reported it as yet as we are booked in for one night on the way ome next week.

Looks pretty much to me and others  that you had decided to report it after your next visit but you are back tracking now.

That's me out now .

This is the 3rd time you have attacked the OP 3bd for struggling with right or wrong, the C&MC line is to report yet here you are trying your best to push him to ignore T&C’s. What you do is one thing but pushing someone else is beyond sensible particularly so on the C&MC forum.

Good to see you are counting, doing the same for your chums I assume.

No counting at all, it’s called a sense of what is right & wrong, your deflecting will never change your ill will to C&MC. It isn’t your ultimate travel plans that will be ruined if the C&MC loses the ability to license CL’s, many others including me love the CL experience. What you are doing is grossly unfair.
