Non-members on CLs

No names (just yet...).

On a CL (which has recently changed hands) the other week when a single guy in VW T5 home conversion turns up late at night and is away again 6am the next morning.  When speaking to the CL owner the next morning I said I was surprised to see he'd let someone stay in a van with no toilet (given that the CL has no toilets).  He seemed a little vague as to whether the person was a club member (I suspect he wasn't).

Is either issue acceptable?  Certainly I think the no toilet issue is a complete no no and I'm not over the moon about letting non members in just out of greed (well what other reason is there?).

It’s been one of the noticeable things since the first lockdown. We are off to a lovely CL soon, been using it for the last 30 plus years, without any issues. For some reason this last year, owner’s neighbour has been giving the owner a lot of grief, over trivia. Nothing that the Club would investigate, but  let’s just say cars are now being parked to make life difficult for those visiting. It’s quiet, tucked away, been there for over 45 years.🤷‍♀️

Is it bad enough to be reported for causing an obstruction? wink

Probably Jill. But CL owners are trying to keep things friendly. It’s a pain for us, as they have a couple of pitches closer to where Mum and Sister will be staying. But he’s kicking up a fuss about them. Just makes it harder for Mum to get to us in MH, but I shall just use car for ferrying her back and forth. Might have to block his gate for a short while though😂 I will just mutter a feW French phrases at him, feign not understanding😇🤣

A couple of points to clarify.

The site owner was unsure and obviously uncomfortable when I asked if the visitor was a club member - draw your own conclusion.

When I said to the site owner that I was surprised he let someone in without a toilet he told me the visitor knew there were no on site toilets and had none onboard and had said to the owner "I will manage, I'll be away early".  "I will manage" either means peeing in a bottle or peeing around the pitch... If it's in a bottle all well and good but it's the thin end of a wedge, what happens when a family in a van with no toilet want to stop?  Do you want to be in that pitch the next day?

We haven't reported it as yet as we are booked in for one night on the way home next week.  The new owner said he had never owned a caravan/motorhome and new nothing at all about them or even what a CL was three months ago.  I'm not sure he really gets it.
