Arrival times

just booked a few weeks at the blackpool south club site .But it now seems that they have altered the arrival time from 12 to 1 o-clock I can go along with that as its a very narrow lane outside so no room to queue with out causeing a traffic jam . My gripe (complaint) is that sites don,t enforce the leave time we have seen people in caravans leaving at 4pm at blackpool and believe it or not 2 leaving southport site at 6.30pm (caravans) you can,t tell if motorhomes are leaving or just nipping out so come on club sites lets have some rules everybody has to stick to in fairness to all members.

It would be interesting if they scrapped the idea of arrival times altogether, just let everybody get on with it.

which was exactly as I illustrated in my two examples, way upthread....no arrival times at all.....harmony reigns.....

interesting comparison.....some towns (mainly overseas) don't have road signs, with residents adopting a 'careful as you go' policy mixed with a good slice of common sense.

in fact, Poundbury, nr Dorchester, is built on this exact model.....no yellow lines (park where you like, using your own discretion) no white lines, no roundabouts....priority is established in slow mornin at each junction as it is reached.....priority it one, give way at the next, based on  common sense alone.....

i haven't heard of any accidents in Poundbury, nor of anarchy taking over the place....in fact it's the complete opposite....peace, harmony, Yeah Man.....wink

perhaps club sites would be even more relaxed places without the raft of rules we are subjected to....'sensible' one or not....

Is that what Haven, Morris and all those other commercial sites which we're often told are so superior to club sites do, then? undecided

Well, David, I thought we were discussing "UK Sites and touring" so my question related to what I think is almost universal practice "over here"! wink

You've probably noticed from my earlier posts that I'm all in favour of more relaxed arrival/ departure arrangements where there are no access problems - that's not the same as a free for all though.

David - you continue to miss my point. It appears some were indicating these UK wide arrival/departure arrangements were uniquely a cub site problem. My point was that Haven, Morris and, as far as I can see, pretty much every site in the UK operate similar arrangements. So, yes, from that specific point of view, what happens "over there" is indeed irrelevant. wink

I am not missing the point M, I would be surprised if Haven or Morris behaved differently  (to the clubs) and that is why I suggest lifting sights a little higher and having a look at best practice elsewhere but never mind, I wont be affected I will just turn up at Bladon Chains in the afternoon and hope that I can avoid a grass pitchwink

best practice as defined by who though Dave?

Let me explain my point again, David. In the UK pretty much every site we've ever used has had a fixed earliest arrival and latest departures time - it is not something unique to the club as some have implied.

Other places may have different,  and in your opinion, better arrangements.

I am talking about UK Sites as they are today; you are talking about sites elsewhere. Look back at the point the OP was making.
