Sometimes you feel like you're on a treadmill. You work long hours to earn money, then a big bill comes and all the money goes. The Mitsubishi service department warned me that the clutch and gearbox repair to the Shogun could cost as much as £2400 worst case scenario. That's going to be a big hit to take to start the New Year off! My boss had a look at it and thinks it's just the bearings and the clutch and flywheel are ok. Even so, it's a big job and time consuming for the mechanics because they have to take the engine out to get to the clutch and gearbox and then put it all back together again which means huge labour cost!

The problem was, having paid £1903 to Lloyds with just over £500 refund for change of car plus the £1400 to the Caravan Club insurance, it worked out £100 cheaper doing it this way than through MB. Although MB argued that their insurance was better because it was specifically designed for their car. Insurance always seems a bit tricky and complicated and difficult to know what to do for the best but we were mindful of the large capital outlay in the car purchase and the £100 saving helps. Like they say at Tesco, every little helps! We can only hope that it turns out to be the right thing to do!

Congratulations on the new car Malcolm, good idea an automatic.
It may be beneficial for insurance renewal next time to find a good independent broker, they can search lots of companies and they can often find a better all round policy for very similar or less money. I can say this as it's what I used to do until a couple of years ago.
Have a good Christmas, lucky you don't have to keep moving around too.
