I can't work out an Apple watch. I have enough trouble with the size of a phone screen. Does it come with a prosthetic mini-hand and opera glasses?

I think Mr Smith is about 15 years too late with banning phones since the devices of today do so much more by way of applications. Baby alarm, CCTV monitor, newspaper, crossword, weather forecast, maps, money management, hotel booking, banking, calendar - you know the stuff better than me.

Now, while I would normally not visit one of his controlled establishements as the beer tastes terrible, I might go to one just to get out my laptop and wind the poor staff up a bit.

I take it that you report any that you find are out of date and of course take it up with the proprietor?

No. Someone has that job. Call me fussy but I like to know that where I might eat or buy food from has reasonable hygiene and food prep skills, and cares enough to train staff appropriately.  There are some seriously dodgy purveyors of food out there.......I would just walk away and eat elsewhere.😀

just out of interest but smart devices like phones, apple watches... are naturally not allowed in exams but from last year even humble wrist watches have to be placed on the exam desk and not worn.

You don’t need a miniature prosthetic hand. You can send a text, for example, by dictating to it, or in lieu of a keyboard you can write with a finger tip. You can pay by holding it close to shop card readers. It’ll store your loyalty cards too. Mostly though, you don’t need to struggle with a tiny screen because it’ll guess what you want to do, or you can tell it - verbally.

i don’t have one because they are still rather bulky, not because they are hard to use, they aren’t really.
