Well, I waited until it went live. Where do l start ? UTTER PANTS best describes my experience.  The queuing system failed to direct me where I wanted to go, I ran out of battery trying to search CLs and to cap it my wife's smart phone "is not compatible with the CAMC app ". sealed

I have just entered details for Norfolk/  September dates. Not available , but...it is for 3 nights, just not five..

and of course I cannot at the start on Late Availability stipulate a fully serviced pitch as

Hmm, how about helping towards a drop in their income from site fees? That’s well within your power.

You’ll never quit, JV. You've got CAMC running through you like a stick of Blackpool rock😂😂😂

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve explained why, in line with its governance, the club has no need to consult members before making changes.🤷🏻‍♂️

As someone who has been a member of CT for some years, I know you have TW.  But this thread has a lot of posts from members who have never posted before, so they aren't likely to know that, are they? Only saying laughing

Losing a 20% deposit, whilst it might hurt, but it's not as painful as losing the fee for the entire stay as happened to me earlier in the year when I was foolish enough to catch COVID. There is a lot of moaning out there about the new deposit system, even though it should not a be a surprise to anyone as its been spoken about for long enough. All this talk about not renewing membership but where are people going to go where they don't pay deposit or as many commercial sites do demand full payment 4/6 weeks before arrival?

My own feeling is that the club has merely lost it's Unique Selling Point and now that deposits will be required members who were used to the USP will realise that there are other providers out there and test the market, especially those that are truly independent and do not require a membership fee, and some will find more competitive alternatives.

There is a wide variety of those sites available, some of whom indeed have punitive T&Cs with both deposits and cancellation conditions but there are plenty that do not. I have just left one today that merely required a deposit of 1 night stay, payment on arrival of balance. It was a saving of about 30% of the nearest club site.

So that, I think, is more of what members who are dissatisfied will do. I certainly feel a lot of the ones who threaten leaving are the same ones who were moaning about "block bookers". You can't win with those.

I'll stay but only as long as the Club are responsible for licences to CLs and that the "non members welcome" as advertised in this upgrade isn't true otherwise I'll be one of those non members using them. My usage of club sites usually reaches capacity at 1 a year.

I guess some folks might do as we do if they can, and that’s book/enquire about pitches as late as possible. There are still lots of CLs that don’t require a deposit, and indeed some small private sites. It won’t work for many, some folks like to have plans in place early, but it works for us. We are happy to mop up any odd midweek pitches, but won’t be booking. It will be a glance at late availability, and roll up, but with a plan B as a back up. Easier in a MH, admittedly. Club are getting nothing more than the bare minimum out of us now, they have tossed loyalty to the dogs, happily sold the unique selling points for taking in more money, we will happily survive, as do all our non Member family and friends.

The lack of communication from this club apart from a bit of chest puffing about anything that makes a positive headline?

  •  I posted earlier about those who were very much thinking of not renewing their membership was as well that two couples had not been aware that not only have deposits been introduced but also it had increased from 72hours to now 21days as below that you may well lose the deposit paid

What a load of rubbish the new booking system is,what was wrong with the old one where you could see a campsite that you wanted to stay at,checked to see if it was available for the dates you wanted and booked it. What could be simpler, as they say if it is not broke you don't fix it

Well, that's an hour out of my life I won't get back. Managed to make 2 bookings and leave deposits, but not at all user friendly.

If this is is the way things are going we will give commercial sites our business in the future. The Club would have been better updating the old tired toilet blocks in many sites, than wasting money on this booking system.
