Pre-arrival texts

I’ve heard of a few people who have received texts just before their booking start dates reminding them of the 1300 arrival time. I’m told the wording makes it clear they will be turned away if they arrive early. This is in addition to the usual booking reminder emails.

I’m wondering if CAMC is taking steps to curb early arrivals. Has anyone here received a text?

I am at a loss on how the Club could further communicate on this issue. If members do not want to connect/fully engage with the Club then it is their own fault for not following the rules and they can expect to be admonished.

An old fashioned mail shot perhaps? A communication through the letter box with a snappy heading telling of the new arrival time gives no one an excuse not to read it.

I don't like the idea of customers being admonished Peedee but I'm sure most have got the message (somehow?! wink) I hope it all settles down.

The most astonishing thing for me around all this is that the Club are actually actively policing a policy they have put into place. They usually pussy foot around most things, which again draws the ire of those who like things very black and white.

Not easy for the staff though, but maybe after three months or so of sticking to their guns, the message will reach even the most remote of individuals. As someone said earlier, the Club don’t do information communication very well.

A simple message tick box on the booking page, which won’t allow you to confirm your booking until it’s ticked would catch the attention of most folks.

A big notice on the front of the magazine wrap would be just as good seeing as the reply I received was a negative on any ideas put forward in my email to the club although it seems texting of sorts has been admitted to surprised

They still seem to have queues at CCC sites waiting for the 1300 earliest arrival and they had had the 1300 for some years

We don't all have the magazine so it wouldn't be all encompassing. A way of reaching every member needs to be used.

That’s possibly because they aren’t actively enforcing 1pm, whereas the Club now are.

Some folks will still push whatever boundaries are in place, regardless of all efforts to educate. This isn’t solely about the Membership either, it involves local communities who might be affected by having a Club Site nearby.

That it seems is beyond what this club was prepared to do with the reply I got although the texting is a step forward?

If they have the correct Tel number ?I have just checked my preference Tel number and it is still one from last year although I have repeatedly put the new number in as an edit and is saying accepted

While there are as I understand it good reasons for the 1300 rule as was for the previous 1200 timing I do think that wardens should exercise a degree of flexibility. I suspect like most I try and judge my arrival for 1300 unless we’re travelling a significant distance . This has on occasions resulted in my arrival being perhaps 5 -10 minutes early . Having watched the warden at  Bunree stalking round the arrival area at 1255 when the entire arrival area was full to the degree on could not have driven out ( we were walking) looking at his watch I despaired at the lack of common sense and bad feeling he was stoking up. I have no time for those who turn up 30 minutes and more but a few minutes?  It is attributed to Nelson , that “ rules are for the guidance of wise men or the blind obedience of fools” He did and still does have a point

But Frabro where do you draw the line? "Give an inch and a yard will be taken"  No, stick with a fixed time and enforce it. If there were penalties for turning up early, then perhaps there could be leeway of a few minutes to join a queue if it was not causing an obstruction.
