Posted on 16/02/2020 14:47 by SteveLWhen we stopped at Black Horse Farm for a night before the ferry a few years ago payment was required in advance, I think a week before. When we checked in we were given the credit card receipt and our pitching area. We were told 70 were booking in that day, just for a night. I assume it must save some time. It certainly seemed too.

Black Horse Farm is a very busy one nighters for the ferry and train arrival and departures at all times of the day and early hours,so i would expect to have the up front payments,,but is an exception that is and would hope is not repeated elsewhere, we have used it a couple of times ,but only ever paid on arrival as we were not on a Ferry pitch
I can remember before that site was bought? by the club,The race course at Folkestone was the site (gone years ago) and the wardens used to line up the departures,in lines on the big field behind the office in departure times, and back then (before the WTD and euro)) i can remember the wardens being on duty until well gone 2200 hrs still booking early departures in,,
And in the mornings the field would be full of LVs that had arrived overnight, and then the warden would be working out who had paid,as the office floor would be covered in many types of currencies
Kent show ground used to be a site with the same overnight LVs
But Bearstead is used for some now

Posted on 16/02/2020 15:58 by Royston1976Maybe the option should be avalible. Personally I'd rather pay up front.

I would agree about paying upfront, not something I would want to become common practice. The C&CC give you the option on booking. I declined, just paid the deposit, the rest on arrival.
Rookesbury Park also have ferry pitches, do they charge for those upfront?

Is there a particular reason you want this system in place? Is it to spread the payments or is to just get the payment done and dusted at the time of booking? Nothing I suppose is insurmountable but I would question how popular such an option would be. There would need to be some changes in the booking/payment system as sites would have to be alerted to the fact that you had already paid. Given the sheer volume of bookings the club handle I somehow imagine they would need to be sure there was sufficient demand to warrant making changes for a system which seems to work pretty well?
