No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

Never want to be under a tree. Not just rain but bird droppings, sap from the tree, twigs and branches, conkers, nuts etc.etc.

If I can I'll find a pitch that is more or less level and with no one in the adjacent pitches but sod's law means that the Car Park effect happens. You know, when you park in an empty spot with nary a car in sight and when you come out you can't get in your own car due to 2 numpties parking either side of you and you have to perform a limbo dance to get in. I'm dreadful with keys being dropped, sometimes maybe even scratching the odd door.surprisedwink

I don’t know what the other Club does and have no experience of neighbours with TV sets in their awnings…but I did once write a review of a family run site saying “Where else would a lady site owner turn out in pouring rain to choose a flat, dry pitch for us and organise a group of other residents to unhitch the caravan and shove it into place for us”. What’s not to like?

"Surely few would simply take the first available pitch which is what this post implies."

It appears that PD, TW and I, like David Niven, are among the "First of the Few"

You must be lucky with these site owners who look after you so well ETsmile. I have had little to complain about but then rarely have much contact with them. However elderly French   (that's folk older than uswink) on long stay or seasonal pitches often in our experience spend their days watching noisy game shows in the awning and its something we have learned to avoid if possible.

We experienced the same problem with a loud TV in France, only this time it was the Brits, with the nightly episode of the Corrie theme music blasting through an open window.

We always chose a pitch in the sun during afternoon/evening. We liked to go out in the day then return late afternoon so that I could sit out in the sun and read. Also reasonably near to the shower block as we chose to use the site facilities. Neighbours, well often the ones that looked possibly noisy - kids bikes, scooters etc, usually turned out to be lovely, so we weren’t too fussy, and as said, they usually changed anyway. We recently upgraded our static van and chose to have it placed in our old plot as we had lovely neighbours. Within a season 3 of them gave up and sold, for personal reasons, so they all changed as well. Fortunately the new neighbours seem very nice. So not much point choosing a pitch depending on the neighbours.

Where have all posts between 6.11 and today gone??  Content has been removed from the one today (above), and it seems so have all complete posts from the rest of today, as well as the previous 4 days.  How very odd.

That’s right, PD, and even if staying longer than a night or two, we'll be out through the day and not spend long on site.

AD mentioned neighbours but the very nature of touring sites is that neighbours change frequently so it’s not worth a great deal of consideration in my view.

Always make sure our dogs are highly visible, stops people pitching up who later say "would not have taken this pitch if we had known you had dogs", sometimes ensures you have an empy pitch next to you if the site is not full, result laughing

reading back thru this post, i wonder if anyone from the club puts together a wish list from the information given and feeds it back into the system? undecided

I must apologise for my post last night, senior moment ☹️. I thought I was reading the thread: Booking ahead is unfair at some sites. I promise to pay more attention next time wink
