No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

Yes, I take the first available pitch providing it's not obviously horrible.

Ditto, with a motorhome if you are stopping but briefly I see no need to be too choosy. Even with the C&CC and commercial sites who nominate pitches you can still ask to change if the pitch is not to your liking.

That’s right, PD, and even if staying longer than a night or two, we'll be out through the day and not spend long on site.

AD mentioned neighbours but the very nature of touring sites is that neighbours change frequently so it’s not worth a great deal of consideration in my view.

I don’t know what the other Club does and have no experience of neighbours with TV sets in their awnings…but I did once write a review of a family run site saying “Where else would a lady site owner turn out in pouring rain to choose a flat, dry pitch for us and organise a group of other residents to unhitch the caravan and shove it into place for us”. What’s not to like?

Just as the on duty site staff here were doing when it was pouring with rain the other day, and a couple of what looked like new members surprised

Apart from genuine "one night" stops  when I don't think anyone is all that fussy about the pitch or who is next to them, I don't actually believe everyone is as tolerant  as claimed here. If we did start listing the things and more properly people we avoid all hell would break out but just one  example that should be uncontroversial  :

Loud music coming from or a 40 inch telly in the awning, how many want to park there?

Not me😁 Experience has taught us what to look out for, some things are geographical, some things relate to what we might have planned on our stay, a few criteria relate to immediate neighbours, location of various things on Site, and any peculiar Site rules that might be in operation. Then there’s the type of adjacent tourer, the age range of the owners, and any clues, dead giveaways in vehicles. Sounds a lot, but a twenty second glance and a bit of pre arrival research usually has things sorted😂 It’s rare we have a problem to be honest.

More or less ditto. Might be the second. As I prefer one close to an EHU post so I can use my 10 metre lead. Saves a few seconds and a bit of effort when packing up.😂

Never want to be under a tree. Not just rain but bird droppings, sap from the tree, twigs and branches, conkers, nuts etc.etc.

If I can I'll find a pitch that is more or less level and with no one in the adjacent pitches but sod's law means that the Car Park effect happens. You know, when you park in an empty spot with nary a car in sight and when you come out you can't get in your own car due to 2 numpties parking either side of you and you have to perform a limbo dance to get in. I'm dreadful with keys being dropped, sometimes maybe even scratching the odd door.surprisedwink
