No News Yet on the New Booking System

I noticed in the latest magazine there is an article on potential changes to the site booking system. I am sure we had a similar article a couple of months ago? Although there seems a commitment to being able to book a pitch type they are less than clear on other changes such as deposits. Apparently they are still considering it and looking closely at member feedback, including Club Together!!! I suppose we should be encouraged that they are taking note of what is said on this forum? I could be wrong but there seems a sort on consensus on CT that probably its coming to the point where deposits might be the way forward, some more reluctant than others maybe? Obviously many would want to see the small print perhaps before accepting it as a way forward. A decision may well have been made but it seems that it could be a few more months before full details are made public.

I don't really mind what the deposit system is like as long as it is does the job of deterring speculative booking but do agree there should be no full payment until arrival. I guess that means the value of the deposit has to high enough to make members think twice before booking and there must be some form of no refund policy otherwise I cannot see much point in introducing deposits.

I don’t think you are going to be able to have a deposit greater than one night’s stay, for a one night stay🤔

Simple way round that one is pay up front for anything under the minimum deposit. That is pretty much the norm for most systems.

I do like the C&CC book-in system. Auto payment of balance on the day. No need to get out of vehicle and escort to appropriate pitch type. Very slick and much faster than a CAMC check-in.

As a Covid precaution the CAMC Southport site also had (or has) a system where one didnt have to get out of the car. Identify oneself  to the warden at the gate and then go find a pitch,  pay by phone and call back later for receipt and keys. Achieves the same result without being escorted to an allocated pitch , both of which I really dislike and the reason I dont use C&CC sites.

I didn’t think I was going to like being shown to a pitch, but so far it has been OK with the pitches offered all very  reasonable. However, it does mean they know what pitch number you are on, so no need to go back. In the CAMC’s case they could hand over a barrier card and record it against your name / pitch number.

Yes, let’s hope that will work. I tried to pay for a one night stay at Exeter Racecourse by phone in September, but was told it wasn’t Club policy to accept payment until arrival, so things will change hopefully.

Morning

Interesting post TTDA. I reckon this season we have taken payment over the phone on arrival day for about 50% of our visitors. It has been well received and is encouraged by our regional manager, the very same manager that oversees Exeter racecourse.

I tend to agree about significantly in advance. However, I do hope they go down the route of automatic payment on the day of arrival. All checking in could then be done without you exiting the vehicle and greatly speed things up, particularly at sites like Chatsworth, where checking in on a Sunday can take an age, blocking access to the site for anyone else.

The new batch of wardens have changed the Chatsworth check in and it's much more slick.  One of them meets you just before the bridge, ticks your name on a list, gives you the map and tells you to pitch.  The you go back to the office to pick up your gate key and pay.

Far more efficient than three units in the courtyard whilst the rest wait on the lane and very little queuing.
