The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

Like a number of others, we have gravitated to C&CC sites more than CAMC ones. Haven't been on a single CAMC one this year as they are overpriced and generally remote with poor transport links. Membership is retained solely for the CL network.

They are certainly a lot more expensive, especially for us seniors. However, generally remote with poor transport links? I can’t agree with that. Also surely for the ones that are, as long as it’s where you want to visit, it doesn’t really matter.

PeeDee...Roger Waters also liked Grantchester Meadows (on Ummagumma).

Hear the lark and harken
To the barking of the dog fox
Gone to ground
See the splashing
Of the kingfisher flashing to the water
And a river of green is sliding
Unseen beneath the trees
Laughing as it passes
Through the endless summer
Making for the sea

In the lazy water meadow
I lay me down
All around me golden sunflakes
Settle on the ground
Basking in the sunshine
Of a by-gone afternoon
Bringing sounds of yesterday
Into this city room

Doesnt sound like Cherry Hinton to me....😉

Ah,

Many happy memories of the hours spent in the Red Lionlaughing

I find it hard to believe that the CCC would insist on you using a muddy unsuitable pitch If there were other pitch types available, it's not to their advantage to have pitches out of use for longer than they need to.

I recently saw a site manager take out a grass pitch due to a tent groundsheet spoiling it. He raked it and put grass seed down, watered it and said he would water it every day it didn't rain, until the grass took hold and he could put it back in service. I didn't think it was that bad and voiced that. He said he could if he had to let a small pup tent on it but they would have to pitch in a different place on the grass, his preference was to to take it out until it recovered.

this is exactly what happened to us and many other on the keswick site the  warrden told us that when it was time to leave if we got stuck he would tow us off the pitch with the tractor    surprised

We have not used a C&CC site this year, nor last year! If people are suggesting they will be more inclined to use C&CC sites in future I wonder if the unavailability will just switch Clubs? Unlike the CMC I have never had a particular problem booking C&CC sites, even quite close to arrival. However if the C&CC suddenly see an upturn in site bookings I am sure they will start to review their prices and discounts? Did they not move the senior discount from 55 to 60 fairly recently? What is the say that won't be moved to an older age group if they find their sites have much greater occupancy?

And by the same reasoning if the CMC sees a downturn in their bookings they will review their prices a t&cs, hope so.

I certainly think they are going to have to do something once they have very similar T&C’s to the other club. £14.15 a night difference for us oldies at the Cambridge sites I mentioned is massive and it’s not just for the odd day either. If we visit for 3 nights it pays our C&CC membership for a year, on that one visit alone. The C&CC may change there pricing structure, as DK suggest, but I suspect both clubs will give it a year or so to gauge what is happening. Although even at full price without Age related discount there is a £5.30 saving for the same days.

Not forgetting that the CMC has much longer periods of high season prices around PH/BHs and school holidays.

The CCC seem to only go up to high season prices for the duration, rather than many days either side.

I know they do have some sites where you have to stay more than 1 night but we've not found that a problem so far, as there are far more that don't.

Many private and commercial sites have that rule around weekends and BH/PH to.

Edit when we were last at Malvern there was a £9 + price difference, the sites sit side by side, we went and had aook at this club site and thought it not as nice as the CCC offering.

The CMC has built up a very loyal membership based on its very generous T&Cs now it is going to have very similar T&Cs to the rest of the businesses it will be playing on a very different field.
