The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

We have used Cls and Commercial sites before on a few occasions coolsurprised

When it suits but we like using the known quality of club site facilities ,we have been let down on other sites numerous  times before and that includes Cls

We have used the site in Norfolk before and it is quite Good and open all year

I always thought your view was that CAMC sites were invariably cheaper than Commercial sites?  laughing

In the peak periods they seem to be , but this time of year they need to attract  LVs so it is when they usually have loss leaders if they need to keep staff oncool

not having read all posts ,What happens if you book a grass pitch and on the day of arrival the said pitch or pitch type are not useable ie  a sea of mud  ,what happens on C C C sites is that you told that that is the only type of site available to you they still expect you to use it even when hard surface pitches are unoccupied,, just thought if you pay upfront to gain quicker access to your pitch how will it be possible to get pass the queue of van waiting to get through the barrier onto site just another task added to the site wardens list of things to doundecided

Paying up front will only gain you the 3mins it takes you to pay, see below a copy of the question and answer from the new booking system FAQs you will still need to check in and wait your turn if there's a queue

Q

If I've already had my balance payment taken before arrival, do I still need to inform the site staff of the pitch number I have pitched on (after I've pitched up)?

A
Yes, when you arrive on site you will still need to check in, pay any outstanding balance and collect site specific information, then return once you have pitched up to confirm your pitch number

When that happened to us at Cambridge we were put on a road out of the way overlooking the rally field.

For Cambridge, after just one visit to Cherry Hinton quarry we went several times to  Highfield  Farm touring park at Comberton on the western edge of the city - and found Beverley and her family unfailingly helpful about pitch selection. Their site is spacious and impeccable but the downside is that it is not open all year.

I find it hard to believe that the CCC would insist on you using a muddy unsuitable pitch If there were other pitch types available, it's not to their advantage to have pitches out of use for longer than they need to.

I recently saw a site manager take out a grass pitch due to a tent groundsheet spoiling it. He raked it and put grass seed down, watered it and said he would water it every day it didn't rain, until the grass took hold and he could put it back in service. I didn't think it was that bad and voiced that. He said he could if he had to let a small pup tent on it but they would have to pitch in a different place on the grass, his preference was to to take it out until it recovered.

When we were members of the C&CC we stayed at their Oban site. The grass pitches had all been closed off because of their condition and although we had booked one we were offered a H/S pitch at the grass pitch price!

We have been there, a bit/lot more expensive and out of town, we like the C&CC one as its a short ride into town on the bike.  Booked Cherry Hinton in March as C&CC not open hoping its not so far to bike as well but from reviews I know its not such an open site.

We certainly didn't like it, wasn't helped by the grumpy wardens at the time.

It’s the only one we won’t bother going back to. Now we are members we will try the C&CC site next time we visit.
