The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

There is a whole economy in this country based on cash that never passes through a bank or any documented intermediary.  From window cleaners and taxi drivers to major building work, there is an eagerness to not put everything through the books.  So that cash has to be spent somewhere.

The cashless society is coming, the next move will be-requesting cheque books will have a ‘handling’ charge, paying large sums of cash over will be charged too. There are many more ways to penalise those who refuse to move with the times. Progress will not be stopped by anyone. Convenience is king(and cheaper) for the vast majority, democracy in action👍🏻

I agree that paying in advance is a good idea, but the new system will need to be a lot cleverer than the current one. For example on my last trip to Burford I stayed for 10 nights but I had a guest staying with me for 4 nights. There was no way I could book that on the current system but the warden sorted it out quite easily when I got there. So let’s hope the new system allows that sort of occurrence to be booked.

I would also know if the new system will allow you to change dates within the 21 day period, providing there is space of course.

U til we are given the full details of what and how the new system will work?, we will just have to hope? that the questions around it are being addressed  by those we hope are in the thick of it?

The staff who look in to CT and have access to the zoom meetings, will have noted and ask when they next have such a meeting?

As I was  told  by others some time back there are many weeks yet to be implemented before the system is hoped to go live

Can you get cash back when all your shopping is on line? laughing

We’ve just had the bathroom stripped & a new one put in. I paid the deposit by Credit card(50%) & the rest by bank transfer. No cash🤷🏻‍♂️. Re cash-their is a whole black/gig/shadow economy cheating the Govt by not paying tax. Another reason to clamp down on it.

Not too concerned about inconveniencing tax dodgers but feel sorry for buskers and charity collectors, they must be missing out as numbers carrying cash diminish.

If downtime is anything to go by I think it could be sooner rather than later. (February March?) before all the sites open.

DK re pay by phone, Google "samsung pay vs google pay" I have at some time registered for both but have never used them generally finding it easier to use a card rather than unlock my phone every time I want to pay for something. Yes I know you can use easy methods than a pin number to unlock a phone but they do always work.
