We were staying on the North Yorkshire site at Whitby and our neighbours were heating their  awning all day. No wonder the prices are going up on the Caravan Club sites.

No idea what 6210 is. Was it before my time?

Posted on 31/08/2021 21:58

I'm not sure whether you're serious .... but the 6210 was the successor to 2 Beanz tins & a length of string  πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

Thanks Nellie. Nearly before my time as although I used  works mobile my first one was around that time. bit too large for me. My present clamshell style will fit in a ticket pocket and is 10 year old. I dropped my previous one after 8 years and damaged the back. Fortunately I liked it so much I bought a spare shortly after. First was Β£10 and second Β£12. It will go 10+ days between charges but gets a weekly charge

Just out of interest, how much is the phone used with that charging regime.

God grief!  Can't people get a life?

So Charlie say it was left on all day, did he ask the occupants if it was deliberate or by accident?

After all, you all have 16 amps available to you and how you use it, having paid for it, is up to you.

Don't castigate others for thinking differently to yourself.

I think the neighbours the OP are referring could have been ourselves... If so, our 2 rescue Labradors send their apologies and promise to put their organic cotton thermals on next time its cold outside. One is blind and can get in a pickle when in a tight space thus he is happier in the awning. Rest assured the offending heater was never on three bars (so 800W) and was turned off when unattended - the Alde in the van was set on low too to compensate. BTW we are members, we have been CC members for 21+ years and have paid many £££ into the club. Our 1st van was a £150 1978 Abbey Durham and we needed a 2kW fan heater running flat out to melt the frost on the inside of the glass windows laughing  Anyway...sorry we caused you distress - Toffee and Marley send licks of apology too but are not ashamed to say they had a great holiday, appreciated a bit of warmth and loved the site. Who can blame them though after living for 7 years in an unheated garage...

What a lovely post, I think that I posted previously that awnings shouldn’t be heated, and normally I would stick with that, but on reading this I now see why it was, and I apologise if I caused offence. I now realise why the blind dog needed to be in the awning and not in the caravan. Thank you for rescuing these lovely dogs, it cannot be easy keeping a blind dog. I’m glad that you all enjoyed your break.

Fabulous post a&v - should be required reading for all those who rush in to complain about what they see on site but don't necessarily take the time to find out the real facts.

Those dogs are a credit to you. 🐢  🐢

I can only echo what others have said. Well done you, A&V, and I’m delighted Toffee and Marley stay warm in the awningπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ¦΄πŸ¦΄πŸ¦΄
