We were staying on the North Yorkshire site at Whitby and our neighbours were heating their  awning all day. No wonder the prices are going up on the Caravan Club sites.

I can't see anything in the OP to say the occupants were not present when the heater was on. If that was the case, then yes that was clearly pointless. But if they were present throughout then that's their choice and nobody elses.

To take it to its logical conclusion, anybody with onboard facilities should always shower in their van as they would tend to use less water than in the shower block? Saving the planet being the same argument?

Difficult one that JVB. We don’t leave devices on charging while we are out, but do leave the heating and water heater on thermostat. Plus of course the leisure battery charger is operational. We do turn the water pump off in case of a very unlikely micro switch failure. I am sure we are all different and have varying opinions on what constitutes a risk.

The only things left on charge when we go out is leisure battery and electric toothbrush. in the winter we leave heating on low when out.

Ha ha, this reminds me of the Michael McIntyre sketch, ‘ we trust the fridge, the fridge can be trusted, now the other electrical items’  Me - after a long ago work scenario with the fire brigade, I drive my family wild, I leave nothing plugged in charging when we are out or overnight. And that’s at home! But I trust the fridge.

My phone lives in my LHS front pocket at all times. Charged once a week for about 30 mins at a guess

We only have a "roll out" canopy (as with MH's), and found that out heater couldn't keep it warm frown
