We were staying on the North Yorkshire site at Whitby and our neighbours were heating their  awning all day. No wonder the prices are going up on the Caravan Club sites.

I so agree   what did the site manager do when you mentioned it?

One warden  as they were then , would trip the bollard if he noticed one,(could be earth fault on heater sircool)

Were the people in the awning when the heating was on?

If so I personally have no problem they were just enjoying their holiday, would you comment if they sat inside and used their electricity there?

If they weren't in it then yes that is a different story.

Irrespective of any moral or environmental issues, they weren't contravening any club rules and I suppose it’s up to each individual how they use the electricity which they've paid for in their all inclusive pitch fee.

I guess the club must be happy for folk to use awning heaters as, otherwise, they’d be banned.🤷🏻‍♂️

Might one ask how you know they were heating their awning all day? It seems that the Club don't ban the use of heaters in awnings which I find a bit strange. They are always imploring us to save on electricity so allowing awning heater is somewhat counter intuitive?  Just a personal thing but I don't really understand why people want to sit an awning which is cold enough to need heating when they would be much more comfortable in their van?

I have been at sites, probably CLs or private sites, where the site rules state "no awning heaters".  I think that is sensible.  If awning is cold, sit inside.  Needs less heat to heat van rather than awning.

It's sometimes easy to spot some people heating their awnings. At the Leyburn site  three years ago someone had their halogen heater on in the awning, you could clearly see the orange glow - and then they went out.

Halogen heaters don't heat the air only the person nearest to them but they are quite expensive to run for long periods, so not efficient. frown

Whilst I agree it is not against the rules, it does seem a ridiculous waste of energy. I wouldn’t heat our MH and leave the door open and that would probably be more efficient than heating a tent.

Not sure of the logic of your post .where does the heat go   .heat rises and with a flimsy fabric ? It basically then Heats the sky, undecidedcompared to if the heater were where they are expected to be used it would heat the fabric ,  of the building/LVwink

JVB we've had this discussion before 'heat' does not rise, heated air rises. However the heat from radiant halogen heaters travels in straight lines and does not heat the air while it travels, it only heats the person or anything else able to absorb the energy.
