Cost of C & MC sites

I chose to book this in the full knowledge that it is expensive, no regrets but worth putting on here anyway.

We tend to use sites in South Dorset in April, while beaches (Sandbanks, Bournemouth etc) are still open for dogs ( I know, I know)

Whilst in the New Forest last week we called at the Centennial site, liked what we saw so booked on line. 12 nights, April 2022 so off season. Full service pitch, 2 adults, 1 dog; 12 nights. £44.36 per night - ouch.

We usually use a commercial site at Lytchett Minster, which for full service, hardstanding, including streamable wifi - £30 per night (April 2020). Other facilities are on a par with CMC sites, except for the dog walk which is a whole field. A non returnable deposit of £50 is required here, but last year we were able to move the booking from April to October  (Covid) at no extra cost.

We wanted a change of scenery so decided to pay the CMC rate, and the location is better than Lytchett, with easy access to the New Forest. Now it could be that Lytchett's prices for next year will be hiked - I don't know.

Not complaining, just dispelling any remaining myths that CMC sites are cheaper for members than comparable commercial sites. Pays your money & takes your choice.

I think the thing is with CAMC pricing is, as mention earlier, there appears to be scores if different prices, most of which change after a few days (or less) as a result of premiums being added for weekends, bank holidays, school holidays, 'R' in the month etc...

the days of low/medium/high ate obviously things of the past with (literally) every penny being wrung out....yes, as pointed out above, the same pitch can sometimes be just a few pence different at a different time of the year.

while I guess this may be due to 'percentages' being added year on year, it makes for a hugely complex overall structure which doesn't appear customer friendly at all...

premiums being added for weekends,

I think you got that backwards BB. The midweek is discounted, the weekends are full price.😉

Agree BB. Some of the most penny pinching pricing I have ever come across, and not customer friendly. No wonder the Club cannot produce a list of prices any more, it would be too thick to send out in the post!

As the MWD doesn't apply at all sites at all times, it can't possibly be anything other than a discount, unless you believe premiums are added to some sites at all times and to other sites at some times which is pushing the boundaries of credibility😄

Since when have premiums been added at weekends? Weekend prices are the normal weekly price, unless the site has a midweek discount in place to attract members, which it seems with the influx on a Monday workscool

Not so sure Tinny😁 I tend to go with the Club charging to cover their costs mid week, but pushing the boundaries of what prices they think Members will tolerate the rest of the time, and on as many Sites as they can get away with. They have a willing market at the moment......willing to pay almost anything😂

As it seems many organisations who understand their latest customer basecool

As posted before many who post on here are retired (us included) and some seem not to understand ,how much the economics of how it was in the past have ,changed today surprised

yet club site users appear to get over this unfriendly and hugely complex overall structure in their (hundreds of) thousands to such an extent that people complain they can't get pitches?

Actually I've noticed that many non club sites (details on request) also do not have a price list and the only way to get a price is to go through the booking route and see what is available when you want to go, and no indication of 'price bands' just the price you have to pay if you want to stay there on those dates. yes you can see when a cheaper price will occur but no idea of how it was arrived at.

Never mind all will be resolved if, as rumoured,  variable pricing like the C&CC  use  is introduced by the Club.
