Cost of C & MC sites

I chose to book this in the full knowledge that it is expensive, no regrets but worth putting on here anyway.

We tend to use sites in South Dorset in April, while beaches (Sandbanks, Bournemouth etc) are still open for dogs ( I know, I know)

Whilst in the New Forest last week we called at the Centennial site, liked what we saw so booked on line. 12 nights, April 2022 so off season. Full service pitch, 2 adults, 1 dog; 12 nights. £44.36 per night - ouch.

We usually use a commercial site at Lytchett Minster, which for full service, hardstanding, including streamable wifi - £30 per night (April 2020). Other facilities are on a par with CMC sites, except for the dog walk which is a whole field. A non returnable deposit of £50 is required here, but last year we were able to move the booking from April to October  (Covid) at no extra cost.

We wanted a change of scenery so decided to pay the CMC rate, and the location is better than Lytchett, with easy access to the New Forest. Now it could be that Lytchett's prices for next year will be hiked - I don't know.

Not complaining, just dispelling any remaining myths that CMC sites are cheaper for members than comparable commercial sites. Pays your money & takes your choice.

But why you had to post is to tell us is puzzling? Are you frightened someone might book by accident?

The subject is cost of sites!., Even Rowntree is cheaper. Having stayed at Knaresborough in recent times, so I know the site, I am truely shocked at that price for a winter stopover.

As we're swopping booking plans I looked at the Quiet site for 10 days in October and was amazed it was about £50 more expensive than the club's Troutbeck Head site a few miles away. Needless to say I gave the Quiet site a miss.

Cost of sites is indeed the subject, not being shocked!

Post edit - being amazed is OK.

I am not certain how C&CC pricing works exactly.

I don't think they do either 😂😂😂

I cannot help but think the pricing is a website mistake.

I am gob smacked, just went to book Knaresborough for a December stop overand and its £38.10 p.n. Ok so it has a restaurant but........

Needless to say I think I will give it a miss if I can find an alternative near Harrogate. The show ground site closes for the winter, pity that would have been ideal.

It seems you are into Christmas/New Year pricing? The week before its about £26. I like the showground site at Harrogate as its got good transport links, shame its closed. It used to be a Club site years ago.
