It would be great to have feedback on the caravan sites and how the safety measures are working. We will be watching for the next two weeks to see how safe the sites are before we decide to start touring again.  Maybe a lot of people will put reviews on individual caravan sites.

Moderator Edit:

This thread is specifically and solely for members currently visiting sites to offer useful feedback.

Please keep your posts on the topic of "caravan sites opening and safety measures on sites" only.

Thank you.

As I said I have phoned ahead twice. Once when at Hawes as a first stop. We had got jobs done early and went 4 days in advance. Did not want 9 days in Hawes and so decided to cancel the last 5 days and rebook for 5 days at Coniston - done by Hawes warden. I had been 15 years or more earlier but OH had never been.

I phoned up Coniston to check when we could arrive. I think that the answer was any time after 10am.

The other time was our firdt winter in South port 10 years ago to check if coast road was clear. Yes was the answer laughing The hell it was laughing

Oh, a very clever idea that! and how many members even know that CT exists let alone look at it...0.01% or less I would think.

But we are not interested in past history, what we have now are unprecendented situations which the club are clearly trying to address as quoted below maybe on a site by site bases or maybe now across the board

quote

We are asking members arriving at a Caravan & Motorhome Club campsite between the 11th and 13th July inclusive, who were originally booked to arrive at 12:00pm to rearrange their arrival time to 1:00 pm, in order to support our site management teams with the additional workloads being undertaken to deliver COVID Secure conditions. For all other timed arrivals please bear with us and we will move as quickly as we can to shorten any waiting period. Thank you for your assistance. We look forward to welcoming you.

this was sent to a particular member as a text, maybe because they were going to a particularly difficult site for access, but this proves the club are trying to be proactive, not reactive and you suggest.

So the message was received 10 days ago. Plenty of time to make all aware if what JK says is true. If I am on a tour I may well not have internet on site.

Posted on 20/07/2020 22:24

Oh! and so you dont have a mobile phone that never connects to the network whilst you are on tour, yes the message advising of changes to arrival times was sent as a text quote

We received the following text on the Friday 10th as we were due to arrive Sunday 12th

i think you are making it up as you go along

Or if that is to complicated ,then i would expect on arrival at the first club site ,when "Advised " that you are "early?" the question would be to the site staff as they already have had "since when has the arr time changed?",which would have you pre advised for future sitessurprised

Posted on 20/07/2020 22:33

Exactly......on tour....no internet....no phone network....you only arrive at 1 site early and are informed that arrival times have changed....not difficult.

I won't say what I am thinking! I will say though that the club does not have my mobile number

You miss the point, emailing members asking for their support was probably a group decision taken over maybe a couple of days and as such was not an emergency.

Not sure how many members receive emails, i for one dont, and even if i did i sometimes go days without checking my email, the club will know what percentage of membership can be targeted via email in an emergency and may have taken the decision to hold off to see if more information should be included in the email rather than blasting off several emails containing minimum amounts of information.

Websites need a specialised person to change and often require down time to update.

As for sites with difficult access such as Melrose or Forfar, how do you know that the club have not targeted members with imminent bookings for these sites to inform them of the change, it is called crisis management.

In the modern world its possible to get notification of an email on your phone in your pocket .... 😉
