Caravan sites opening and safety measures feedback

It would be great to have feedback on the caravan sites and how the safety measures are working. We will be watching for the next two weeks to see how safe the sites are before we decide to start touring again.  Maybe a lot of people will put reviews on individual caravan sites.

Moderator Edit:

This thread is specifically and solely for members currently visiting sites to offer useful feedback.

Please keep your posts on the topic of "caravan sites opening and safety measures on sites" only.

Thank you.

You miss the point, emailing members asking for their support was probably a group decision taken over maybe a couple of days and as such was not an emergency.

If you consider this an emergency then at such a time disseminating information to members is a priority. Going solely off what J Kernow has supplied, it seems that the blanket 1pm arrival may have been operating over 6 days. I don't know if that info is totally correct however. If it is it could have had an adverse effect on the travelling public, particularly at sites on roads into popular areas such as Broadway. When you opt out of e-mails you do not opt out of operational e-mails such as in regard to booking changes. If we take Jolly Kernow's info at face value than I consider CMC is being totally irresponsible.

I di get your point, why wouldn't I, but I am making my own Rufs

Totally agree ET. At the very least this must be causing problems for their wardens. Problems that they could really do without. Something that could be greatly mitigated by a member wide email alert, which as you say goes to everyone, even those that have opted out. Whilst everyone might not check their email daily like myself, I would lay odds the majority check it at least weekly.

Blimey, some on here do enjoy a group moan.... at what is a very difficult time should the Club concern itself with such criticism, especially from non-members, those who don’t use club sites or those who don’t even use a MH or caravan? The solution is fairly straightforward, just take the initiative and seek clarification, as they say it’s not rocket science and this is a pastime, not life & death.

Many, not on this forum, may well not be aware of the need for any clarification. They made a booking to arrive at 12am and had a confirmation of arrival time of 12am.

The club management should concern itself with informing members. That should be within their remit. As a pastime it is important that site arrivals impinge as little as possible on other members of Joe Public

We’re in the middle of a pandemic. These are extraordinary times, clarifying arrangements for arrival and other aspects of one’s stay is surely a reasonable approach for all to take, rather than just assume the world is continuing as before and being surprised when you find out it’s not. As someone said ‘we’re all in this together‘, so we all have responsibilities.

Some might ring to check. However, I think the majority would work off  there confirmation email and perhaps check online for any updates.

Exactly, we do not know how many issues EG are having to contend with at this time from both campers and wardens, if i had a pitch booked at a specific site in these exceptional times, i think 24 hrs before arrival i would be contacting the site to confirm that i was still ok for staying, not sure if all sites have an answering machine that they can programme to leave a specific message if reception is not manned, they should have, but a simple message saying "we are open but do not arrive before 1300 hrs is all that is required, not rocket science, and if you arrive and cant gain access , drive around for an hour or find some place to park up, difficult times require imaganitive solutions.laughing

for the difficult sites, you dont know that they have not done this ?

or made arrangements for members to enter the site, park up and wait until wardens are available to handle new arrivals, i cant believe that the club/wardens are not aware of the dangers of having LV's parked up outside sites where Joe  public might get the hump, another reason why they would be on top of this to protect the possible closure of the site.

People are going to go with what the confirmation e mail says, so the Club needs to alter it where necessary.  Even send new e mails where necessary.

Otherwise people will arrive at noon, unless the site info already says otherwise.

If it is in the magazine (already binned here) it is not going to reach much of an audience I suspect.

Not received mine either, but how could it possibly be in the Aug mag, this decision to move arrival times to 1300 hrs has more than likely been made as a result of feedback from wardens as to how they are coping, and as reported previously, one warden on here is struggling to fit deep cleaning in with getting ready to welcome new arrivals at     1200 hrs.

Its a new world requring many changes/concessions for all of us we have to get used to it, or give up our much loved pastime/hobby/leisure pursuit whatever you want to call it, but whatever, it is not going to be the same again for some time to come.

We received the following text on the Friday 10th as we were due to arrive Sunday 12th

We are asking members arriving at a Caravan & Motorhome Club campsite between the 11th and 13th July inclusive, who were originally booked to arrive at 12:00pm to rearrange their arrival time to 1:00 pm, in order to support our site management teams with the additional workloads being undertaken to deliver COVID Secure conditions. For all other timed arrivals please bear with us and we will move as quickly as we can to shorten any waiting period. Thank you for your assistance. We look forward to welcoming you.
