Bristol Site

Hi everyone,

We wanted to keep you updated of the Club’s plan for a new site in Bristol. The Club bought a site in Clanage Road in 2016 as a replacement for the extremely popular Baltic Wharf campsite because the Club’s landlord, Bristol City Council, had been moving ahead with plans to redevelop the Western Harbour area of Bristol.

We would really like to be able to continue to offer a site in Bristol as we know many of our members love to visit Bristol and have fond memories of staying at Baltic Wharf. It will also have a great economic benefit in the local area with members visiting local attractions, shopping and eating out, as the City is easily accessible on foot and by public transport from the new proposed site. Having a Club Site will also extend the range of accommodation Bristol can offer.

We have resubmitted a planning application for a site on Clanage Road and would love it if any members can help this application by contacting Bristol City Council in support of the proposed new Club Site.

For more information on how to support a planning application visit: https://www.bristol.gov.uk/planning-and-building-regulations/comment-on-a-planning-application or alternatively you can email the Council your thoughts: development.management@bristol.gov.uk

We would be very grateful for your support in this matter and thank you in advance for your help. Support from members could well help to secure a positive outcome. In the meantime members will still be able to stay at Baltic Wharf Club Site in Bristol up until the end of the year.

We will keep you posted on developments and wish you a very happy touring season ahead.

Yup......somehow forgot to clarify planning permission before they bought it. 😂

It would be good though to replace Baltic Wharf.

I am off now to check planning applications......

And you ask for support 4 years later?

So that's 4 years rent on a site they knew was closing which could have been spent on developing the new site.

I've heard of bad management but this really takes the biscuit

This is the original available site at the old police horse training centre, where Bristol planning objected on grounds of flooding etc. It's in a good spot, over the road from Ashton Court Park, the Suspension Bridge is close by and the Avon foot and cycle way. About 15 mins walk from the previous site at Baltic Wharf. I would support this application as many will enjoy staying on a site in this part of Bristol, accessible from  the Gordano junction on the M5.

Put Clanage into the search and use the "current" planning link.

I have just had a look at all planing stuff, very interesting. Not sure why original application was thrown out, but hope something better comes of this second stab.

I expect the club held out as long as possible at Baltic Wharf and this was the nearest suitable site available now looking derelict due to standing empty for too long. There are defunct buildings and grass areas on this site at present and although the first plans were rejected due to the suggestion of flooding Baltic Wharf could have the same problem yet the council have allowed planning to go through there!

I hope the next submission goes through...smile

+1

This LINK should take you straight to the planning documents but this is the site plan.

By, looking at how tight things are on there, it could be a test of reversing skills for some, and magic roundabout for others. Definitely no queuing allowed. Could be a nice City site though.

Hopefully there will be access from the site (left hand end of magenta line) onto the foot path. It's about 1km walk to the ferry by Baltic Wharf.(right hand end of magenta line)
