Hi everyone,

Looking to book for 2019? Right now, you can book up to and including 31 March 2019. We've changed the way we put UK Club site pitches on sale so you can now book up to a year ahead, all year round. All you need to remember is whichever month we are in, you can book up to and including the same month next year. Find out more: Improving your Club experience and on our FAQs.

Depends on the recent winter weather and the type of ground the grass pitches are on,some sites grass pitches drain very well

But I know that JV.....

There is the odd grass site (New England Bay springs to mind) where grass copes......

But let's open up grass pitches to commercial reality...........

The Club fudged the last trial. Let us book H/S like every other provider of campsites.  If people book grass pitches, happy days for them.

If nobody, or not enough book them on any given site, to make them viable, then scrap them...

Why is the Caravan Club scared of customer choice...?

I'm happy with grass. If you're not ..... and you're obviously not happy, then cancel your CC membership & use commercial sites that you seem very fond of.

And we're booked next week for a site that has a large proportion of grass pitches, one of which I'll chose. I'll let you know how I get on

Not every "other"provider? We are booked via a deposit !! on a comercial site later this year and to get hardstand we needed to pay a premium only it was more expensive than to book a serviced pitch on a club site undecided

Ps if we were not meeting with others with deeper pockets than us, we would have gone to a cc site 20miles away

You may be happy with grass.  And I am quite happy to see whether your preference has any viability for the wider club membership. I know other people profess their fondness of it......great stuff, let's see who actually books them in advance, give us the choice, I am not afraid of choice, are you....?

I don't want or need to cancel my membership, I had already headed off that rather tired and over used retort every time somebody suggests the club could improve some aspect of it's business, by saying that I had looked around and booked elsewhere where customer choice was available. I'm happy, now, to use any provider of camp sites that offers me the choice I want.  I  use many CC sites and would like to give them my money to be reinvested in the provision of more sites & pitches, with a choice of surfaces. But I was agreeing with a previous poster about avoiding grass.

The Club can easily establish the popularity of grass. I am happy to see choice. Your rather over used retort is cancel your membership. Let's hope you never play any instrumental part in running the CC....

Ignoring the bit about deposits, which is a seperate subject, the gist of this then is that a H/S on a commercial site is dearer than a serviced pitch on a Club site....?

I too have found that on occasions, I haven't said commercial sites are cheaper, just that they offer a choice.

I would like the CC to offer more choice, but am happy to vote with my wheels when they don't offer enough choice.....
