What is going on? A planning application has been submitted for the demolition of the Club's site and for the erection of lodges to take its place!.

Check it out >here< on the West Oxfordshire Council site. Anyone got anymore information, does that mean the end of a site for Blenheim Palace and Woodstock or is the reason for the popup site?

Have to agree with JVB on this one, lots of Travellers we have seen in last couple of years have been in Motorhomes.

Anything under the Club umbrella needs to be inclusive. Lots of folks tour properly with their caravans, maybe not a single night so much as a MH might, but certainly 3,4,5 nights then move on. I know we did, and Nellie and a few others certainly tour all over. If individuals don’t like such arrangements, either in terms of time, or services, or no one permanently on Site then there would still be the Full Club Site, or CL options. It’s just a different model idea, at the moment outside the Club comfort box.

The "old chestnut" of height barriers, that are getting installed in more places to deter unauthorised admittance to open space/car parks,  will be the big obstacle in any applications from any organisation or LA if there is to be nil or minimal other form  of security

I don't agree with their being a particular length of stay that equates to touring 'properly' TDA. My last family tour was in 1994 and was quicker in many ways (still able to vault over a 5 bar gate laughing

In 2005 it tended to be 3 or 4 night stays.

Around 2010 I first failed to make a clear vault over our front wall (The same height as our 5 bar gate frown )

Now we tend to stay 5 nights or six if we have friends near a site.

Who knows? As we age further it may become 6 or 7 nights. Still touring but at a more leisurely rate.

As a local resident I would suggest that Cassington is a non starter. Those fields at each side of the A40 between Eynsham and Oxford flood every year. That's why OCC have granted planning permission for hundreds of houses there, to be called some sort of "Garden Village". At least the gardens wont  need watering.

Motorhome parking allowed in Blenheim grounds in daytime,

Thanks, I thought that was the case but it would be good to be able to stay overnight.

Make sure you have plenty credit on your credit card. Even parking a car  there is eye wateringly expensive. Us locals all use the Combe gate to enter the grounds for free (public footpath), which of course blocks all the small local lanes leading to this gate.

There probably aren't any objections to "travellers" staying on motorhome stopovers providing they obey the rules. Certainly I would have no objections. Height barriers only serve to discourage the tourist pound. If authorities don't want the money then by all means put up the no overnight parking signs and height barriers and the law abiding motorhome owner will simply go elsewhere where they are more welcome.

The authorities have a choice as do the motorhome owners

I don't join in with those who want Club sites to fill gaps near their home. The Club has eight sites of its own here in Cornwall, but after living here for 40 years I confess I have only stayed at two of them - there are so many other sites to choose from, and so many other places to visit.

Many it seems who want more sites on "home turf" is to enable a weekend away from work within easy driving distance  ,as some have posted on CT before

our "home turf site" has  been since the early 1980s FM as it is just over the hour from our storage sitecool

The sites in Cornwall are for the 6 week hotspotssurprised

There are always a few bad eggs to contend with even on sites.

A conversation with site staff would confirm that ,and also the huge cost of moving them on and the usual clear up afterwardssurprised
