Bladon Chains - another lost site?

What is going on? A planning application has been submitted for the demolition of the Club's site and for the erection of lodges to take its place!.

Check it out >here< on the West Oxfordshire Council site. Anyone got anymore information, does that mean the end of a site for Blenheim Palace and Woodstock or is the reason for the popup site?

Going, going, gone. Unlike Baltic Wharf the plans by the estate to redevelop the site and install a number of holiday lodges has now been approved. There is no chance it will open again as a touring site unless the estate applies for planning permission to add this on at some future date.

Sad to see another one go, but it never looked like it would end any other way. I’ll have to find another site near the deli there that sells ‘Oxford Blue’.

Sad to see it go but it was in desperate need of updating as a campsite. It is rather surprising that an estate of that size couldn't have had both. Our only hope for the future is that they might develop and overnight parking area for motorhomes in their extensive car park? Otherwise there are good transport links direct from Oxford but staying at the C&CC site would require a change of buses. Obviously not problem if you want to visit just for the day as you can park quite close to the Palace.

The private sector is there and well established for visitors to Blenheim. Greenhill Leisure Park and Diamond Caravan Park are both about 5 miles from Bladon. Those with a car or a motorhome can drive to Blenheim and park there.

I’ve used Diamond and would happily stay there again 👍🏻.

Oxford C&CC is one I really disliked😕

The club announced earlier in the year that the site was closing.

The new application is nothing to do with CMC so they will not have announced that, to be fair to them they would have no reason to be told of the plans

...if you don't mind a drive in to Oxford, you could always use Lincoln Farm Park.  Stayed there one, but quite a few years ago.

You could drive to the Pear Tree for the Park and Ride into the city centre.  You used to be able to get Oxford Blue from the Covered Market down the High Street.

We recently drove from Greenhill to Blenheim Palace in the MH, huge car park with us being directed to a convenient spot with easy access and egress.

I hope Vanbrugh Estates have done their homework if Darwin Escapes is the chosen company to manage things. Their Trustpilot ratings are.......🤣

Darwin Escapes bought a golf club that I occasionally play at and are in the process of installing pre-fabricated “lodges”. It’s a business model that is very common both in the UK and Europe.
