Increase size of CLs?

Why Are CLs only allowed 5 vans, is it the government, local councils? If so perhaps the Club could lobby for an increase.

Isn't it time CLs were given permission to have more than 5 vans, many do anyway unofficially!

Perhaps it could be allowed to double to 10 vans, but only if they had a certain acreage?

I wouldn't like to see them over stuffed with vans but it would help both caraanners have more choice and scope and perhaps make it more financialily viable for owners.

Could the empty ones not have EHU and hard standing and cant afford the update due to limited size? Not talking about a wholescale change but those with sufficient room and wanting to increase their income cold benefit.Again more choice, The alternative as we see monthly in the Mag is more closures.

There is already a mechanism for those with sufficient room and wanting to increase their income though. All they have to do is to obtain a full site licence.

Its important to remember that one of the factors in setting the limit is that certification obviates the requirement to obtain planning consent. A higher limit may provide scope for abuse.

Write your comments here...Then the cost per night rises and they loose customers.

It depends on their target market really though doesn't it? They might attract fewer CL users but enough other customers to make it worthwhile.

Are they empty because they expect customers to beat a path to their door?

What active marketing are they doing. Are they offering a usp? Do they email previous customers letting then know about local events that might be of interest? Have they even asked for an email address?

There are some CL owners on CT that regularly post keeping the CL name in the public eye. That's the way to do it.

Couldn't agree more Fysherman! Wink And for what it's worth, I'm perfectly happy with 5 vans and have no intention of increasing the number (legitimately or otherwise) even though I regularly turn people away because my CL is full.

Good for you Nicola.

A quick perusal of the CL pages on this very website will show large numbers of CL sites that cannot even be bothered to put up a photo!  I don't buy the argument that so many don't know how to work a computer. For the very few that genuinely don't they can soon find someone. No, they just cannot be bothered and that's fine with me because I happen to like a CL all to myself.

Fysherman I agree with you re the photos often not being put up. It would have to have really good reviews for us to book a CL without being able to see a photo of it first.
