A Good Way To Increase CL Numbers?

As a CL one of the benefits of being with the CAMC is we can purchase simple and cheap Public Liability Insurance through the Club for the site, which made it so easy for us. As I understand it, that support (and their buying power) is now to be ended. I guess CLs will be left to fend for themselves with no doubt an increase in the premiums.
I hope this is not an example of how CAMC values their CL network! This may push some older CL owners to consider closing as they will be faced with spending more time searching around for insurers. I hope we don't see the network drop below 2200!

As the Club have taken over the role of insurance providers for caravans, etc. why can't they also bring this "in house"?

Because the exposure potential far exceeds the profit potential.

A £1,000,000 hit, say, on a claim for Public Liabilty as opposed to a £20,000 for a caravan for probably a smaller premium for the liability cover. Not worth it for either the Club or its members who would like the club to remain solvent.

A lot of CL owners are also members of the Club!
I guess the increase will be passed on to the membership who chose to stay at CLs laughing

I know that Johnny. You have my sympathy. IMO the club should be using its financial clout to secure better deals rather than taking on the risk itself.

Do you recall Independent Insurance Company? They provided a liability policy that was a form of product guarantee. It crippled them. They went bust. You have to be careful if you take on liability covers.

Inevitably but to think the club itself can provide PLI for multi £m cover is unrealistic for the reasons WN explained.

Incidentally, I understood all CL owners had to be members of the club.

I think that it's only new CL owners that have to be members, but I don't know when that rule came into place, TW.

As you say Wherenext I was not be expecting the Club to play at being the insurer, but to use its financial clout and buying power to secure a broker to take on the risk.
I guess they have done that but at a greater cost smile

That's what Maddie has said, J57. The brokers the club works with have been unable to source insurance but Devitt have come up with something, albeit more expensive than before. I think the club has done exactly what you wanted.👍

I see a political problem re this. As a CL owner and a club member should a dispute arise I can see the Club would be looking after the members interest first. OurI public liability policy is with the NFU and is part of the overall farm policy , heaven forbid should we need it there would be a clean break between them and us.
