A Good Way To Increase CL Numbers?

As a CL one of the benefits of being with the CAMC is we can purchase simple and cheap Public Liability Insurance through the Club for the site, which made it so easy for us. As I understand it, that support (and their buying power) is now to be ended. I guess CLs will be left to fend for themselves with no doubt an increase in the premiums.
I hope this is not an example of how CAMC values their CL network! This may push some older CL owners to consider closing as they will be faced with spending more time searching around for insurers. I hope we don't see the network drop below 2200!

"Stand alone" Public Liability Insurance can be very expensive as Insurers charge minimum premiums.

Can you not get together as a group and negotiate a discounted rate? Don't know what timescale you've been given to sort out your own cover. Do all CLs pay on one certain renewal date? If so a decent insurance broker may be able to negotiate a group discount if they are allowed access to the CL owners list.

Obviously some owners can simply add it on to any existing cover they may have, such as farmers or pubs etc.

Very dismaying news though that the club seem to be making life more difficult for CL owners.

When existing policy renewal date comes up will have to look else where I guess and as not part of a farm/pub will be looking for a stand alone policy.
Getting a group CL discount maybe a possible way to keep costs down. Its all time and effort for someone!

If you have a big enough group, even if it's only in a part of the country then I can assure you that you should be able to get a decent Insurance Broker to look for a quote for you.

Maybe have a word with  Ted at Cholsey Grange as they have quite a few in their group. The more the merrier.

It's the type of thing that I did when I was working.

Can I ask how you are certain about the decision? Has the club written to you giving you all a timescale. If the club arranged the group insurance then I really cannot see why they would abandon you like this. They are not only going to make CL owners unhappy but risk alienating a small but significant section of their membership if we see either CLs leaving or fees being hiked as a result of increased overheads.

I can forsee many an email from members heading to EG for an explanation. I don't think the club realise just how much indirect income they derive as a result of having the CL network in place. If they do then they are being very cavalier about looking after it.

JOHNNY57 Has made a good point which can affect many Club Members and I don't think petty squabbling does his thread any favours !frown

"If you have a big enough group....."

Isn't that exactly what the club is for, being a big enough group!

It is Andy but if the club are telling everyone to sort themselves out it will hard to get everyone in touch with each other. I suppose the club would just use the Data Protection Act to avoid giving names and addresses out.

Maybe due to cost of club sites more people are using cl’s. So in turn the club are making it more difficult fo them.

If more people are using CLs it seems it is the "full fat" type as there is still t seems a trend of more closing than opening, unless some of those that are closing are converting to become commercial sitesto enable more pitches

That could well be the case, but without doing deep research, or phoning up a particular site that has closed and one you want to visit there's no easy way of finding out. They used to print the reason for a CL closing in the club's magazine but no longer do so, hence eliminating a source of information concerning the site.
