Cannot insure my caravan

I am about to take delivery of a new-ish caravan which I am intending to use for work, instead of bed and breakfast. I have just tried to get a quote from the Caravan Club's own insurers, and also from Towergate, but both only offer 'Touring' insurance. Can anybody please offer advice on any insurers? Thanks.

I personally agree with Malcolm.  He has a registered address that his mail goes to, I presume he has a bank account etc. and the bank is accepting this as his address not C/O CC Site in Bognor or whereever.  He chooses to tour for the most of the year in his caravan, so long as teh insurer is aware he uses the van most of the eyar there is no porblem.

As for taking phone calls etc. we can all be away in teh van and get a call from work so are we then working?

I have occasionally worked from the van when on hoiliday and see no issue with doing so as it is not my permanent place of work and I am only doing office duties which is covered under most houshold policies.  If Malcolm were m,aking the Pizza's in teh van and having folks come round to collect then thats a different matter and a big risk to the insurer (pizza oven).

I would say the risk he is taking is living in the van all year as I am not sure the insurance covers this scenario, I know when I applied for MH insurance one of the questions was do you "full time"/ Live in the van....

In the same way as you have a proper residential address, Malcolm? Come off it - you're twisting the story to suit yourself, as ever.

Write your comments here...How do you think I get my monthly Caravan Club magazine? How do I get my sites directory and handbook? These are posted to my address which I share with my family relation. That is a fact. Nothing twisted like you suggest!

Where do you think I receive my bank and credit card statements? Where do you think I'm on the electoral roll? All these things require an address and that is proof enough for banking and insurance purposes.

I don't think it's a case of agreement or not, more a case of zipping it Sealed. The rights or wrongs can be argued until the cows come home, but to invite your actions and way of life to be questioned can attract all the wrong people.

Malcolm, you cannot or will not see that you alter the angle of your story as the whim takes you. You cannot or will not see that you are making a complete fool of yourself by your conduct on here. You refuse to listen to sound advice concerning your security.

You must get on with it and face any consequences but please don't whinge on here if it all goes pear shaped because you won't get much sympathy.

Write your comments here...Well let's hope it doesn't go pear shaped. The insurance company gets business from us and the bank gets business from us and they are happy because they are getting paid by me.

The Caravan Club also gets business from us in membership fees, site fees, seasonal pitch fees, attendance at events etc. Today for example, I will be paying over £34 in site fees at Littlehampton Club site for two nights stay. So everyone's happy. What's the problem?

Regretably, I feel that it's time to draw a line under this one. I've referred it to our Community Manager for her decision on its future or for any appropriate enquiries to be made.

Thank you to all posters who have offered advice or made comments but this thread has developed into one of personal attack.
