Should the Club put it's foot down?

It's good that over the last few years the Club has been moving towards being more aware of the needs of our planet and the care of it's environment. Certainly sites like Poolsbrook with eco aware facilities are to be aplauded. The Club rightly should encourage, even expect, it's members to play their part in cutting energy consumption, and think beyond "just me".

Is it then time for the Club to introduce a TOTAL ban on awning heaters on thie sites? No doubt some members will see this as an infringement of their rights. That right being, in this case, to completely ignore the consequences of using energy in what is basically an outdoor space.

And the rest of us can just shut up, stop whinge-ing on, and pay for their electricity wastage in our site fees.

At least some CL owners are aware of this, and have moved to banning awning heaters on their sites.

Unfortunately  not since Thomas Cook went. However you are addressing someone who spent his working life  producing coal and holds  very sceptical  views of green agendas I am unworried about a bit of fuel to take us to the Algarve for instance and then in order to spend 2 months there as opposed to a couple of weeks by the package visitor

Have never been to the Algarve - is it any good? wink

Ah, hadn't realised Cuba was with Thomas Cook (that would also be a "package" wouldn't  it?)

Might I suggest Costa Rica as an alternative? Same part of the world,  same climate, marvellous beaches, very welcoming people and an astounding variety of wildlife. Highly recommended! smile

Very simple solution. Just replace the 16amp circuit breakers in bollards to 10 amp ones. That should ensure less electricity is used, but still give visitors the option of how to use it.

Heating a tent wouldn’t be top of my priority, but then we still consider touring as posh camping and can survive without having absolutely everything replicated as though at home. I think of heating an awning down there with letting a tap run constantly. Don’t do either. Electrical consumption is one of the factors driving up prices. That affects everyone.☹️

Maybe TTDA but it would have little impact on my usage. 1kw of heating being sufficient in my experience and ample electric for everything that I require. Does my heating burn more electric on a thermostatic 2kw heating than on a 1kw?

my flashing lights are solar powered, is that OK? smile

No, you should be using our solar energy far more responsibly! Put it to some common good use, man!wink

Also you (one) does not pay for my electricity, the club does.

I think i do pay for it, it's included in the cost to rent a pitch.
