Should the Club put it's foot down?

It's good that over the last few years the Club has been moving towards being more aware of the needs of our planet and the care of it's environment. Certainly sites like Poolsbrook with eco aware facilities are to be aplauded. The Club rightly should encourage, even expect, it's members to play their part in cutting energy consumption, and think beyond "just me".

Is it then time for the Club to introduce a TOTAL ban on awning heaters on thie sites? No doubt some members will see this as an infringement of their rights. That right being, in this case, to completely ignore the consequences of using energy in what is basically an outdoor space.

And the rest of us can just shut up, stop whinge-ing on, and pay for their electricity wastage in our site fees.

At least some CL owners are aware of this, and have moved to banning awning heaters on their sites.

I can be a frugal as I like in the use of electricity but if my neighbour is wasting energy trying to heat an awning I am subsidising that use as most of us will.

Indeed David and it troubles me not

I think the issue is about responsible use of energy. For me awning heaters may be fine if paid for folk are sitting in the awning. It's the use of flashing lights that I question, particularly when the owners cannot see them at all or are out or fast asleep

my flashing lights are solar powered, is that OK? smile

" ...of course, third world countries like Spain, France and Germany seem able to painlessly collect metered data from pitches, prep up a bill, allow payment the night before leaving and still sell them a lot more cheaply than the club."

Is that every site in those countries,  BB, or 75%, or 50% or 20% or is it just on some of the ones you happen to have visited? I'm just wondering, if it's so easy and so cheap, why is it so uncommon on sites of any kind over here?

I wonder how many people heat thei4 awnings for their dogs?

Posted on 13/10/2019 19:52

It'd be heating it for me, not the dogs in our case! They have a higher priority in Mrs M's hierarchy! wink

In terms of any "green aganda", I wonder how much energy would be saved by banning awning heaters or metering electricity "over here" compared, say, to that expended by towing huge distances or driving MHs  "over there"?

Just mulling it over! wink

Maybe the sites can sell with a profit margin unlike over here?
