How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

One night bookings are very useful when you are travelling long distances and just need a rest for the night. We used both clubs for one night stays last year but the C & CC is more limited due to their minimum stay restrictions on some sites.

Write your comments here...That's because you have a motorhome, brue. One night stays are much more hassle with a caravan especially with a full sized awning plus side annexes!

...but as Brue says, of travelling a long way, even folk with caravans need to pull in for the night, dont they?

either way, i cant imagine anyone would mess about with an awning (and side annexes!) if just stopping for the night......even you MHappy

of course, many folk travel much further than Brighton to Littlehampton...

Id put your 'travelling patterns' at the rarer end of members' typical itinerariesUndecided

Very true BB, even when we had a caravan we did one night stops and the awning only went up if we were staying longer.

Write your comments here...That's right, BB. If it's just one or two nights, we don't bother with the awning but it does mean managing in a more cramped space. It's not just the job of putting up the awning, you also have to lay the awning carpet and assemble all the awning furniture including our larder with shelves, plus two ring electric hob that sits on top of it, the folding coffee table, the picnic table with built in seats, the two relaxers, folding chairs, inner tents etc. It's like setting up an entire home. You need to spend a minimum of three nights in one place to make all that worthwhile.

Quite a few of us travel light Malcolm and luckily both clubs can cater for all our different styles of vanning or camping.

We still retain membership of both clubs as we may need to use the other club for tent camping whilst our caravan is being serviced

Can't you get a mobile engineer to service your caravan on site Malc?.......Cool

Write your comments here...I've seen them advertised, Brian but the difficulty is whether the dealership warranty will remain valid if the servicing is done by someone else other than the dealer that sold us the van.

Write your comments here...If you use a mobile who is registered with the relavent organisations there there should not be a problem, your dealer might not like it because they are losing buisiness but the warranty should not be affected, where we store our van, there a quite a few including new vans who use mobile service engineers

Just had a quick look for it but there is no mention of the forum on the C & CC web site (unless I missed something?)
