How does this Club compare with the ‘Other’?

I’ve started this discussion to try and collect together any direct comparisons between CC and C&CC.

One mentioned several times is that C&CC charge deposits with bookings, whereas CC does not. In that same discussion, it was mentioned that the C&CC membership was larger than CC’s, which surprised me. Can anyone provide the stats?

What other factual differences can be identified?

I think it would be a disaster if the CC took more Tents personally.  We have been Members of the Club for 35 years and are very happy with it as it is now.

Yes quite agree, we don't want any of the riff raff do we! Innocent

A remark totally uncalled for.  When we were younger that's how we started off.  Bought a tent, then moved to a trailer tent and finally a caravan as finances allowed.  Don't tar all tent campers with the same brush.  I'd sooner have a field of tent campers thatn some of the people we've met on CC sites!

Come on lighten up, it was made in fun, XTB907 is a new poster , don't want to scare him off ,do weCool. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

Why not, youve scared off the old onesWink

......but like a rubber ball they come bouncing back....(AMOBUTS)Happy

 >>>>Perhaps the next move would be to remove the restrictions on seasonal pitches in length of occupation without the need to move the caravan off site every so often and introduce seasonal fully serviced hardstanding pitches<<<<

David, as long as they don't create less available pitches by doing this then that is fine by me. It would be better if  they  built new pitches rather than restrict the availability of prime pitches by introducing these extra seasonal pitches, I'm not advocating putting these in the worst part of the site enblock,  but I think that a lot of acrimony could and would be shown if members were to have their choice of pitch restricted.......Cool

...If there is too much demand and not enough supply for touring pitches then it seems senseless to increase the number of seasonal pitches which by definition means reducing choice for tourers.
We spend most of the year in Europe and I hate sites that have loads of seasonal pitches.  They are like ghost towns when they are not in use. I would be very disappointed if the Club (which is supposed to be a club for tourers) goes down this road.

It is not something I want to see but if in the future the Club membership sinks below 300000 what should be we do keep revenue at a level needed to support the Club? It was just a bit of blue sky thinking. All organisations have to keep upto date otherwise they will sink. The only reason sites abroad have seasonal campers is because they can't survive without them. Those seasonal campers are being replace by the proliferation of mobiles on site, particularly in France.

Interesting discussion.  I hope someone from East Grinstead is looking in - I'm sure they are.  Apologies from me not being very consistent in following things through at the moment - things are chaotic here!  Hope to be back a bit more frequently after the Christmas rush!

Those commercial sites having seasonal pitches with permanently attached awnings, gazeboes, garden tool lockers, gnomes etc are just not nice to look at in my opinion. They also seem to generate a perceived superior hierarchy amongst the occupants. No, we are a tourning club, keep to a minimum and certainly were seasonals exist, keep the T&Cs / restrictions the same as us tourers! I think the difference between club and the commercials is the very attraction which makes the club special. To assist this, just a few pods and tents, where applicable, are a way of allowing the younger folk or potential newbies that all important taster into our pastime, which, given our warm welcome, would help.

Both Club's are great organisations, supporting the caravanning and camping industry and encouraging people to enjoy the great outdoors. The feedback in this discusison has been really interesting and I will certainly forward this thread onto colleagues for their reference. Thanks everyone for your constructive contributions.

The thing I like about the other club is the fact they accept tents. I hate to see row upon row of caravans on hardstandings which many of the CC sites are becoming. Much prefer (in summer at least) grass pitches of caravans, tents & MH all interspersed thus you get a broader spread of age ranges as tent campers tend to be younger.  Some CC sites can be like a residential home for old people!

Write your comments here...Some sites can also be an invitation to hooligans..................in tents!

Write your comments here...you have not stayed with the c&cc then

Write your comments here...Correct...observed only at Malvern, that was sufficient. I am not saying they are all like what we saw,but we were happy to be with the CC. We are not all alike,so you are happy to be with C&CC good! more vacancies for CC clients.   Happy

I expect everyone has had some sort of adverse experience with neighbours on a site whether in a tent or van. Both clubs are very well run and try to make sure people enjoy their holidays.
