Dynamic pricing to be introduced

Apparently dynamic pricing is to be rolled out to all UK campsites during 2023.

Which means that those that book up to a year ahead will be able to take advantage of the lowest prices.

Those who for whatever reason cannot commit to booking so far in advance will be penalised if they wish to book closer to the time of travel because apparently the higher the popularity of a campsite and the closer to the time of arrival the booking is made, the higher the price may be.

As with all the changes that have happened during the last 6 months, where were any or more importantly ALL the members consulted and balloted regarding these changes?

Many older members (like ourselves) cannot commit to long term bookings due to medical considerations, appointments that may arise because of these etc; we have previously just set off when able on a ‘tour’ and then by way of the (what was) late availability checker booked ‘on the fly.’

We have already been penalised with the 21 day non-returnable deposit system which really could have been much fairer reduced to 7 days.

I used to fiercely defend the CAMC as a great organisation to be a member of but this latest move has been the nail in the coffin for us personally.

I agree Steve, while I'm happy with a deposit I'd never pay fully up front even 12 hours beforehand.

It's been most nights this week I think Steve, I too was in the middle of a post! Best we all go to bed at ten o'clockundecided

From experience ttda you're ever so slightly off the markundecided. Sites like mine at £20 per night are struggling already. Your email should have read that those decent value service point only sites need supportwink Another year at a massive loss won't bode well I think.

I didn’t pay that much attention to the actual sites mentioned at first JK, but here is list I was sent

Great news - We still have availability on some of your favourite UK Club campsites for stays this Easter and throughout Spring.

Carnon Downs Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £26.70*

Chapel Lane Club Campsite - Birmingham, from £21.20*

Culloden Moor Club Campsite - Scotland, from £22.70*

Godrevy Park Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £23.60^

Hillhead Club Campsite - Devon, from £27.30*

Looe Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £25*

Modbury Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £18.70*

Ramslade Club Campsite - Devon, from £22.90*

Southland Club Campsite - Isle of Wight, from £20.80^

St Agnes Beacon Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £15^

Book your last-minute getaway now!

All the prices quoted are for one person, some are for a grass pitch and the prices are for a nine night window as far as I can see. I know St Agnes and Chapel Lane are no facility sites, but unsure about others. I guess it’s the Sites mainly in the SW that struggle to get visitors.

Bad news if Carnon Downs is struggling after only just coming onto network. But it’s certainly not a basic no facility Site, and neither is Hillhead or Looe as far as I am aware. 🙂

Thanks for that, my mistake😁 We have never used a single one of those Sites, but are familiar with Looe, Godrevy and St Agnes. Would be tempted with St Agnes, it’s a place we like, especially Chapel Porth Beach, but unless it’s changed, Summer was no dogs. Some lovely walks though.

Edit🤔 we had one night at Carnon Downs, around 1986 or 7 I think. It was Autumn, just us and a couple of others on there.

You are right TDA. The SW sites struggle to fill up over Easter, most people only have the bank holidays and families don't travel the distances done in the summer break. (No dogs at St Agnes beaches from Easter onwards TDA.!) We often stayed there but the risk of cancelled breaks due to waterlogged ground finally put paid to our efforts.

We liked Carnon Downs in the winter but there are some very good CLs in the area which offer excellent value and ambience.

PS we're paying up front for our next two sites, a CL and a private site. However the losses, if we don't make it will not be on the scale of the main CAMC sites except the "value" ones which are similar price wise.

Dogs are only gunned on Chapel Porth beach in July & August from 10am to 6pm so not too bad.

Thanks Tinny, we have lost touch a bit👍 We have done the odd late swim if the weather has been kind, and the tides are right.😁

Yes, it’s a long trek for a lot of folks is the SW. We used to do long weekends a long time ago, keeping a van stored down near Marazion, all year round. But the traffic is far, far worse nowadays. Three hours from home will get us up into Northumberland on a good run via A1, but three hours South, we would possibly not get beyond Moreton in Marsh nowadays, so we tend to head North.
