Dynamic pricing to be introduced

Apparently dynamic pricing is to be rolled out to all UK campsites during 2023.

Which means that those that book up to a year ahead will be able to take advantage of the lowest prices.

Those who for whatever reason cannot commit to booking so far in advance will be penalised if they wish to book closer to the time of travel because apparently the higher the popularity of a campsite and the closer to the time of arrival the booking is made, the higher the price may be.

As with all the changes that have happened during the last 6 months, where were any or more importantly ALL the members consulted and balloted regarding these changes?

Many older members (like ourselves) cannot commit to long term bookings due to medical considerations, appointments that may arise because of these etc; we have previously just set off when able on a ‘tour’ and then by way of the (what was) late availability checker booked ‘on the fly.’

We have already been penalised with the 21 day non-returnable deposit system which really could have been much fairer reduced to 7 days.

I used to fiercely defend the CAMC as a great organisation to be a member of but this latest move has been the nail in the coffin for us personally.

I didn’t pay that much attention to the actual sites mentioned at first JK, but here is list I was sent

Great news - We still have availability on some of your favourite UK Club campsites for stays this Easter and throughout Spring.

Carnon Downs Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £26.70*

Chapel Lane Club Campsite - Birmingham, from £21.20*

Culloden Moor Club Campsite - Scotland, from £22.70*

Godrevy Park Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £23.60^

Hillhead Club Campsite - Devon, from £27.30*

Looe Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £25*

Modbury Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £18.70*

Ramslade Club Campsite - Devon, from £22.90*

Southland Club Campsite - Isle of Wight, from £20.80^

St Agnes Beacon Club Campsite - Cornwall, from £15^

Book your last-minute getaway now!

All the prices quoted are for one person, some are for a grass pitch and the prices are for a nine night window as far as I can see. I know St Agnes and Chapel Lane are no facility sites, but unsure about others. I guess it’s the Sites mainly in the SW that struggle to get visitors.

Bad news if Carnon Downs is struggling after only just coming onto network. But it’s certainly not a basic no facility Site, and neither is Hillhead or Looe as far as I am aware. 🙂

I just checked the Carnon Downs site for us. It’s £40 a night and doesn’t have availability until 28th April. Not much good to us.

so shouldn’t the DP mean the price should be higher if there’s no availability until the end of the month? Beechwood is empty and is £50 a night. Something doesn’t add up here CAMC

Not sure how you have got that Chris, unless you are possibly only looking at serviced pitches. I had a look just now, and there’s lots of pitches right through until end of April. Either £44 or £39.20, depending on dates you want. I didn’t check serviced pitches. 🤷‍♀️

York BG is coming up either £42 or £46 for me for a couple. What has surprised me is that York RP is coming up cheaper.

Apologise, if I look at hardstanding it comes up with lots of availability @ £48.60 a night for us.

It’s ok, it’s not the easiest Site to use to get a price🤣

You set me off looking at a few other things as well. Cornwall being one of our favourite places, I had a quick glance at a few cottage websites. Late availability, which suits us, there are some very nice one bedroom cottages dotted around, and at around £500 for a full week, it’s not worth bothering hauling the MH down there at that price differential, and that’s via a letting agency, so owners direct contact will be even cheaper.

Thanks TG, someone else put me right. It’s not a site we are familiar with, I think I’ve mixed it up with another place👍😁

We have just returned this afternoon from a weeks all inclusive holiday in a first class hotel in Spain for £1040. Weather was fabulous. It makes £500 for a self catering holiday seem expensive to us.
