Dynamic pricing to be introduced

Apparently dynamic pricing is to be rolled out to all UK campsites during 2023.

Which means that those that book up to a year ahead will be able to take advantage of the lowest prices.

Those who for whatever reason cannot commit to booking so far in advance will be penalised if they wish to book closer to the time of travel because apparently the higher the popularity of a campsite and the closer to the time of arrival the booking is made, the higher the price may be.

As with all the changes that have happened during the last 6 months, where were any or more importantly ALL the members consulted and balloted regarding these changes?

Many older members (like ourselves) cannot commit to long term bookings due to medical considerations, appointments that may arise because of these etc; we have previously just set off when able on a ‘tour’ and then by way of the (what was) late availability checker booked ‘on the fly.’

We have already been penalised with the 21 day non-returnable deposit system which really could have been much fairer reduced to 7 days.

I used to fiercely defend the CAMC as a great organisation to be a member of but this latest move has been the nail in the coffin for us personally.

I am wondering how dynamic pricing will be shown to be in operation.

If I have missed it and the info re date of introduction is out there somewhere I would love to know where that date info is.

If not and anyone comes across this way of CAMC ‘selling’ pitches hopefully they will let other members know by posting here on the forum and maybe elsewhere as they see fit.

I personally wonder if they may be ‘sold’ through late availability.

It has been in operation since the printing of the current Site Directory. The lowest prices shown for each "Club" site is for October 2022, so by the time the SD landed on members doormats it was out of date, the prices having risen "dynamically"!!

The information is also to be found in the new booking experience FAQs.  But it's buried deep amongst pages and pages of responses. The club call it "flexible pricing." I looked at Bunree after it was mentioned on here and there are variables in pence over weekdays and weekends. Hillhead however still takes the prize at over £70 for a family of four but there aren't any of the smaller pence adjustments at the moment. Is there much profit in a few pence on limited weekend pitches, who knows,  but it must be keeping someone busy. 🤔

To parody a certain motoring journalist, some say that it's 'what you wanted'. All we know is that the showroom windscreen price bears no resemblance to the 'on the road' price.

The "club" AGM is 28 October.

Time to turn up in droves and give the management of the CAMC business (because it certainly doesn't seem to be a club where members have a say anymore) a hard time.

Thing is a lot of people were very vocal on here and other social media after the rebrand in 2017 and when the new booking system started last September. Everyone was going to do a similar thing at whatever shows were on and give them "what for". Truth is it didn't happen. Lots of people come to site and give us a hard time though?!yell

That's because you and other wardens are easy targets, JK. Perhaps those that do give you a hard time expect you to forward their complaints to those that are responsible for those complaints as you are their face to face point of contact with those in positions of responsibility within the organisation. Very few have the time or opportunity to attend the AGM.

Just to be a little fair to the Club but they have made access to the AGM easier as a result of the pandemic. Whilst I agree that attending the meeting in person is probably not going to encourage many to do that, the Club have made the asking of questions far easier than they were before. Now hopefully that is a change they will continue with. It has provided some useful pointers on the future of various aspects of the Club which we didn't really have before.

As to whether "member power" will come to much I doubt it. Wasn't there a campaign to vote out various committee members at the last AGM, as far as I know (voting was never disclosed)  that didn't happen?

There are plenty of opportunities to complain in person without attending the AGM. There are Regional General meetings and Question Times and you can always write to the Club.

Trust me NTH, every moan and groan and complaint certainly gets sent further up the chain. Just my opinion but since virus a lot of people seem to get angry over nothing.
