As all sites and CC approved sites have been suspended for 3 months (30th June) are we to expect the CMHC to suspend all memberships for 3 months.? My membership is due in July so I'm a bit loathed to not be able to use it and go anywhere only to be hit with a renewal as the suspension is lifted.

The National Trust for Scotland is a charity registered in Scotland, Charity Number SC 007410

My point is I'll help support a charity but not sure why I should support a business with more than a few quid in the coffers. I'm not expecting anything back from the £10 a month I pay to the National Trust.

Your decision and that is great, and that's the point I have trying to make all along with out much success I must add.

I am not saying what people should do only my reasoning for my decision. I believe the club worthy of support (giving my reasons) and you perhaps don't, both are correct as it's your money but I do not belittle anyone's decision but respect it and that's all I ask in return.

Didn't JFK say something like:-

And so, my fellow Club Members: Ask not what your Club can do for you - ask what you can do for your Club.

Does anyone cover you for a pandemic, or is considered like a war and written out.?

Posted on 13/04/2020 16:02

It is not the pandemic but the government's actions that have caused the loss. Apparently the owner of the microbrewery where my eldest daughter's boyfriend works was able to claim for the beer that he was having to get rid of.

I believe that there is a price consideration at play. The more you choose to pay, the wider the range of 'Business Interruption' events that are likely to be covered. It will vary between Insurers, but the cheap premium is like.ly to have more events deemed to be force majeure

On the membership holiday question, Just out of interest, I though I would take a look at the National Trust Website, not having had any communication from them like other organisations. It's fairly deeply buried but for anyone who wants it, they are offering a 3 month direct debit payment break  for monthly payers, or 25% discount on your next renewal for annual payers. Monthly payers would have to be quick though, as they only have to the end of April to apply.

Perhaps the CC have done something similar, with the search function on this web site you would never find it.😉

Thanks SteveL for that info on the NT, we pay annually and hadn't heard anything, but I see annual payers have until the end of March 2021 to apply for a 25% discount if they would like it.  I imagine that monthly payers have been sent an email at least, it wouldn't be right for the NT to just bury the info on their website.  Hope those who aren't interested in this will forgive me for drifting a little off-topic.

As has been said the cost of this insurance would almost certainly have put the club off buying it.

I have read that Wimbledon have the insurance at a cost of something like £1.6million, with a potential loss of £160million. The figures may not be remembered correctly but won't be far off.

I also know that some clients of Hiscox Insurance are threatening a class action against them for refusal to meet their claims. These are clients who have specifically bought the insurance including pandemic cover. Hiscox maintain that they should claim off the government, ie us. Be interesting for me as someone who used to deal with this type of thing to see how it pans out.
