An altogether better booking experience

We’re really excited to let you know that inspired by members, following a number of focus groups, feedback from Club Together and member surveys, we are making some improvements to the online booking experience. In the first half of this year we will go live with the new booking experience for overseas sites and crossings. By the end of the year you’ll be able to book UK Club Sites in a fresh new way too.

What improvements are coming?

By the end of the year the new booking experience will enable you to:

  • Search all types of sites via a more user friendly map and location finder.
  • Compare sites by location, facilities and price.
  • Build a holiday itinerary and book multiple UK Club Sites, overseas sites and crossings in one session. You can also save your itinerary and come back to it later.
  • Search, book or amend via mobile, tablet, desktop or the new App. All devices will share a familiar layout and additional functionality will be added to enable overseas sites and crossings to be booked via the app.

We will also be evaluating your feedback with regards to some of the most common subjects discussed by members when making a booking with the Club – block bookings, cancellations and deposits. We are looking at different options to ensure the next steps we take to evolve the site booking experience are in the best interests of the membership as a whole.

Exact launch dates are still to be confirmed - we’ll let you know here, via email, on the website and via social as soon as the new booking experience is ready to try!

Are you suggesting I am lying?

If you had ever been you would know that for the majority  of the season there is no need to book if you dont want, if you are of a nervous disposition or know of very good local reasons why a site might be full for example the ex Municipal site in Chalons en Champagne gets very busy when the agricultural show is on adjacent to the site and it makes sense then to book but otherwise no. I have never in 52 trips over 39 years paid on arrival apart from night halts and even then some proprietors will not accept payment until the morning..

I am wasting no more time on you as you have not intention of ever going.

Same over here there is no need to book on most sites at most times of year, but its what we do over herewink

Well, we do both over here and over there, pretty much out of peak season in both places.

Over here, we would not travel without booking, over there I think we have possibly booked twice in the last 10 years......once at Ypres as the site is very popular and we wanted that site, and once for one night at Delftse Hout as it was a holiday period.

Other than for one night, no sites have asked for payment on arrival.  Some ask how long we think we might stay, we always say something like 3 or 4 nights if we plan to stay for a few nights, they seem happy with that and say to let them know when leaving, either on the day or the night before.

Some of you aren’t right into this casual touring at all in UK. We find a site, pitch up, then post some money through door for each day we want to stay. That’s about as spontaneous as you can get! 🤔😁 There are still places in UK where you can arrive on a whim and say hello to some old chums made down the years.

But not Club Sites. Gone are the days of just rolling in, mooching from site to site.

Anyone care to put a bet on the introduction of deposits? And extending the cancellation period.........

Meanwhile, we will be off next week. Not a single site booked yet, in fact the deliberation on West or East is still ongoing.........

Staying away from the "who books what when" discussions as I have probably said enough about that....

I commend the club for updating the web facilities. The current system is very poor and really needs attention.

I hope it has been benchmarked against the leading site finder and booking platforms.

Wow, even an APP.

Wow, even an APP.

We have had an App for some time Phishing, which works reasonably. I read this as just an update. Certainly making layouts similar across different platforms is a good idea.

What we really need is a system which allows us to book in and pay on line before your leave home. Then all that is needed is to have a scanner at the gate which reads your membership card and off you go to find a pitch. No more queuing in the office for half an hour while the person in front insists on telling the warden all his problems.
