Welcome to the Caravan and Motorhome Club.

Ever since we came together as a group of outdoor enthusiasts 110 years ago, our Club has continued on a journey of discovery. It's time for us to make some changes for the better by redefining who we are to help you get the most of the great outdoors.

I’m sure you all have lots of questions, please post your feedback and queries in this thread.

What does our new logo mean? We created a video to explain how we created it:

As someone who has never been caravaner (as yes and do know that my camper-van is technically a motor caravan and hence arguably a caravan and its not that long ago that the club classified me as a "caravaner"  ) I am delighted by the change because it is an acknowledgement that motor-homers not only exist but form a significant and increasing proportion of the membership (they said it not me) with different wants and needs mainly around mobility and travelling patterns. Whilst the change may be bowing to the inevitable I hope the change will be marked by actions in the shape of more "aire" style pitches and sites and not just words in the shape of rebranding.

I do feel sorry for CC management sometimes because they must feel whatever they do is perceived to be wrong and pleases nobody but I for one am very pleased about this change.

I've been reading this thread for a few days and had decided not to bother posting anything, because it would have been a positive comment (I like the new look) and would just have got lost in the tsunami of negativity anyway.

However the more time has gone on, the more vitriolic the discussion has become and I'm so dismayed by the things people are posting. Would you say these offensive and disrespectful things to people's faces?? Or expect to have them said to you??

I think we need some perspective here. As someone else said, this is a leisure club set up to help us enjoy getaways in the great outdoors. No-one has died. Talk about third world problems!!

If you feel aggrieved by this change then make representations to the Club in an appropriate way, everyone has the right to do that. Posting negative comments on here probably won't do anything and just serves to paint us all in a bad light because the valid points are overshadowed by the blatantly disrespectful ones.

I know this won't make any difference, but it makes me feel a lot better to say it!

it is perfectly appropriate to post here publicly.

There has always been some doubt that the Club has been fully behind motorhome ownership in the Club, reading some of the posts on here sadly justify that thought. Hopefully the name change and rebranding is the start of removing those doubts. I have been asking myself had I not joined the Club as a caravan owner would I as only a motorhome owner have joined the Club, probably not. There are 250,000 registered motorhomes in the UK with perhaps as many as 100,000 being Club members. That still leaves a large growing market to capture to the benefit of the Club and it's members or would those who dislike the changes like to see the majority of the 100,000 motorhome  owning members leave the Club taking with them their membership contributions for the remainder to make good to meet their aspirations for improvements.

This change has been imposed without proper consultation and demonstrates how our "club" really operates. The decline in membership is due to the cost and availability of pitches. It is often cheaper to use commercial sites that are better located and more facilities, like free wi-fi. Like many members, the only reason for continuing membership is the CL network. Please use what money the club has to increase the number of club sites and look at pricing.

Very sad to see money has been wasted on a re-brand of the Caravan Club. Does anyone else think that the new logo is ugly?

Posted on 23/02/2017 08:29

yes , i think its awful.

I see very little in the way of offensive or disrespectful posts on this thread. I see posters expressing how they feel in an honest way.

I for example have agreed that the way in which the change has been sprung on members, the fact that members have had to wait for delayed handbooks etc without being told why, the statement that this is a response to members feelings (?) to be economical with the truth in this latter aspect and overall showing zero consideration for existing members.

As far as the surrounding publicity is concerned I think that it is poorly presented and insubstantial and I have said so. Nothing that I would not have said to anybody's face. Not vitriolic, not offensive, not disrespectful but merely my, and others opinion of how this has been carried out.

Oh yes and if I wanted to be a bloody explorer I would have bought a pith helmet and putees. laughing

Hi JVB,

The change in name and logo were based on your feedback and in consultation with your representatives on the Committee. Together, we’re embarking on a journey of investment in the future of our Club.
